I don’t think this error is related to BPS or is being caused by BPS.

This error message is specific to the Google Chrome Browser and usually indicates a connectivity problem. ie your Internet Connection (ISP) has connectivity problems.

Please see this Google Chrome post:

Was this a Internet Connection problem with your ISP? Please resolve this thread. Thank you.

Hi, the problem was in .htaccess file. I changed the file name so I could access WP-admin panel and then I re-installed BPS and than I did a backup of .htaccess file. Now everything work just fine. Thanks for help and quick replay. Sorry for my english.

This error is happening on my new blog. Very frustrating. Can anyone help. I need simple answers. I don’t know much about all of this stuff! 🙂 Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

Do the same/similar steps that mirkosovran did. FTP to your website and Delete or Rename the .htaccess file in website root folder and the .htaccess file in your wp-admin folder. Log back into your site. Click the AutoMagic buttons and Activate BulletProof Modes.

I am getting this Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data only on WordPress when I try to log in into my blog page. Check with hosting provider and they are aware of the problem but claim their PHP servers are ok. I starting get this on Chrome 27 and then all the other browsers IE, Firefox, Safari, in their language of “page is not available server received no data.”

The problem started on June 25, 2013. I have a client who has a blog withb the same hosting provider and 3.5.2 WP as do I and there are NO ISSUES! I have cleared out my cookies, etc. Still I get the message. On top of that I can’t save updates or install widgets. Reloaded 3.5.2 20 times still no resolve.

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE? Hack? I have BPS (loaded it while I was experiencing Error 324) and it isn’t from that plug in. Someone tampered with one of the PHP scripts and I have no idea which one it is. How they did it is another question.

    The most likely causes are:

    1. There is a problem with your ISP internet connection.
    2. Google Chrome specific issue usually resolved by just clearing your cache or disabling Extensions.
    3. Faulty Router or a Router misconfiguration.
    4. Spyware, adware or malware installed on your computer or in your Browser.
    5. Corrupt or invalid Registry keys on your computer.
    6. Corrupt cache in your computer’s Temporary Internet folder that requires manual deletion by going to the Temp folder and deleting that cache.

Also there is a new factor to consider. The Brute Force Login attacks are still going on strong. We are logging around 280,000 blocked Brute Force Login attempts per month with no sign of the attacks slowing down.

    Less likely causes:
    1. Invalid .htaccess code. Typically this will generate a different error other than a 324 error.
    2. Redirect loop in your .htaccess rules. Typically this will generate a different error other than a 324 error.

Negative all counts. We have examined all of that and WordPress and the Posting side of the site is only place ALL BROWSERS are having issues.

If the Brute Force attacks are the reason, what are you going to do about them? Businesses are relying on WordPress. And if we can’t remedy this problem soon, I’d say you will have some customers asking to remove their pages from WordPress for security reasons.

NOT MUCH HELP I SEE. You’ve have this going on for a long time now.

Ok well you can try deleting the .htaccess files, but I honestly do not believe it has anything at all to do with your .htaccess files or BPS.

BPS Login Security already provides Brute Force Login Security Protection for free. If you would like additional protection then use this code that we created free here.
    http://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/protect-login-page-from-brute-force-login-attacks/

Our BPS Pro customers are not experiencing any impact from the massive Brute Force attacks and neither are we. 😉 BPS Pro is blocking over 280,000 Brute Force Attacks per month on our websites without even batting an eye. 😉 BPS free offers pretty much the same Brute Force Login protection.

You are assuming that the problem is related to BPS and I am pretty sure that it is not. 😉

I have had this same exact error occur in my Browser and the problem was that my ISP Internet Connection was having problems.

The only indication I found that an .htaccess file or code could cause this error is if a Host Server does not allow the ErrorDocument directive to be used in .htaccess files or is handling errors in a way that using the ErrorDocument directive in an .htaccess file combined with what a particular Host is doing on their Servers could cause this error.

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6765883/using-htaccess-to-remove-codeigniter-index-php-in-a-subdirectory

If this is what is occurring on your particular web host then you would turn off BPS Security Logging. If the error is still occurring then you could check with your web host and see what restrictions they have for .htaccess files. Generally out of the 1,000’s of web hosts around the World this is not an issue, but there are a few Hosts that are doing custom Server configurations or other things out of the ordinary (not industry standard) that cause BPS not to work correctly or cause other problems.

So check with your particular Host and see if they are doing anything out of the ordinary or have restrictions on .htaccess files and code on your Server.

My ISP and hosting provider don’t have any issues. I can get into https:// sites with no problem. Just can’t get into my WP-ADMIN and get files and widgets to load properly even when I have reinstalled WP 21 times in the past 3 days!

Ok do this. FTP to your website and delete the .htaccess file in your website root folder and the .htaccess file in your wp-admin folder and let me know what happens.

Also I did come across a Drupal post that someone increased their memory limit and that fixed the problem. I am skeptical that that really fixed the issue though.

Also have you done the standard WordPress troubleshooting steps?

Deactivate all plugins. If you are unable to log into your website then you can deactivate all plugins using FTP and renaming the /plugins folder.

Switch your current Theme temporarily to the WordPress 2012 Theme.

    Other possibilities could be:

Your Host/Server requires php/php.ini handler code in your root .htaccess file.

Your php.ini file has something that it should not have in it or a directive setting in your php.ini file is invalid/incorrect.

Have you checked your Server Error Logs?
