Support » Theme: Twenty Eleven » Child themes, examples in the wild of Twenty Eleven

  • Hi there

My Google-fu has let me down. I’m looking for inspirational examples of Twenty Eleven child themes in the wild for a not-for-profit site I’m working on.

I’ve spent some time searching but not come across any great resources. In the past I’ve been able to search (for theme customizations) using the theme credits that people leave in their footers.

If anyone can point me in the direction of websites or lists of websites using a Twenty Eleven child theme, and specifically charity/not-for-profit orgs that would be great.

    Thanks!

  • I think most people use child themes as a way to modify twentyeleven for a specific site — not to create a theme for distribution. I know there are some exceptions to that, particularly for frameworks, but I’ve not seen that kind of thing for twentyeleven. (If it was out there, Google would find it too…)

Why not just look for a theme that you like — there are many great options (free) here:

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes I probably need to change themes in the near future but for now I’d like to stick with Twenty Eleven as I’ve not got a great deal of time to work on the site (and I don’t want to rush a bad job), so I was looking for a bit of inspiration from how other people had modified Twenty Eleven so I could make do in the short term.

    Check out http://jrpc.org

It’s the Peace Center in Missoula, Montana. They use the TwentyEleven theme with some limited customization.

Maybe it’s too late, but if you still need it you can check out the results for a TwentyElevenChild theme search on http://wpbyexample.com. It’s a WordPress theme search. Maybe it can come in handy later.
