When trying to install your plugin, I receive the error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class PhpThumb in /home/jere/public_html/climbjunkies.com/wp-content/plugins/special-recent-posts/lib/phpthumb/PhpThumb.inc.php on line 46

Any idea of any modifications I can make to PhpThumb.inc to get this to work?

I think this problem occur when you have another plugin using the same class.
Try to deactivate some of your plugins until this error disappears.
