automatic plugin update doesn't display progress

When I download or update plugins automatically I see the “Installing Plugin:”plugin” Downloading install package..window but the rest of the display never appears. Fortunately the plugin does get installed or updated so it’s not a major problem.

I know that this question has been asked before but I wonder if anyone ever found the solution.
