[resolved] single pages break before comments, wp-login.php throws blank (6 posts)

One of my readers brought it to my attention that single post pages were being "cut" right after the post content. No comment form, no sidebar.

While I was logged in to my blog, I could see the comment form and sidebars normally.

I logged out, saw the problem, and now I can't log back in: wp-login.php throws a blank page.

The problem arose less than two days ago. I haven't installed plugins or knowingly tinkered with my installation in that time -- just posted a new post last night.

I'm still using 2.0.x -- maybe it's time to upgrade? But I can't get in to deactivate my plugins before doing it.

    Any help will be welcome.

    Hi, Steph:)

Here's a fix, it may work, dunno, at least try it:

    To deactivate plugins:

FTP to your WordPress blog, browse to wp-content directory, then rename *plugins* to anything else, then try to log-in again! Renaming of this folder should automatically deactivate all plugins, or so I read somewhere over these forums!

If it doesn't help, maybe the issue is more complicated. But first try this one, and then report:)

(I'm still running WP 2.05 on PHP 5.2.1, for the exception of one plugin (LightBox) all appears to be OK... I guess I should upgrade soon, too.)

My bad, I didn't give my blog address for kind souls who might want to go and have a look:

Will try to "fix" it before upgrading, though (worst case scenario: I can deactivate plugins by wiping the right field in the database).

Deactivating all plugins by renaming the directory allows me to log back in. So possibly, the problem is due to a plugin (I have TONS). Unfortunately, I didn't make any changes to any plugin recently... so it's a mystery for me why things suddenly "stopped working".

    Should ask Dreamhost...

Right, problem solved. I deactivated a bunch of plugins I wasn't really using anymore (or which weren't really working), so the culprit is probably among them:

    - CG-Archives by year
    - Next/Previous archive date
    - Plugins Used
    - Twitter Updater
    - OpenID Registration

    Hello:)

    I'm glad you fixed it:)

    Good luck! :-)

(ps DreamHost recently notified all users that they upgraded from PHP 5.2 to 5.2.1 so this could bring some issues to your older plug-ins, if you used PHP 5... Just an idea. I'm hosted on DreamHost, too (http://www.optimiced.com), running still 2.05 - I hope I'll upgrade this weekend.)
