• Not sure if this makes much sense…

My main domain “mywebsite.org” has a WP multisite installed. It is my personal site which has several languages using subdirectories “mywebsite.org/eng”, “mywebsite.org/es”,… .

Since I am starting to host other artists on my web server account and they also want their site in several languages, I thought I have them as addon domains pointing to public_html/mywebsite.org. All sites, for now, are registered via my bluehost account.

Would this require a multisite setup where the sites are also multisites? Is this possible?

    Does this setup make sense?
If yes, what are the steps to do that?
And how would the setup on MAMP look like?

    Thanks

You can use a Multinetwork plugin to let subsites make more subsites.

Thank you Mika. I had a look at it and it is exactly what I had in mind.

I saw this note to it:
This plugin hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.

I imagine that this kind of wp setup is appealing to other, so I wonder why it is not updated. I fear a little bit that it becomes obsolete. Are there other common solutions for setting up such networks?

It still works. There’s also http://wpebooks.com/networks/
