Technorati "blogs that link here" button (12 posts)

Can anybody tell me how to create a "blogs that link here" button for Technorati?

On one of my sites I have one of these, and it's very useful. I want to install in on a second blog, but now I can't find the code for this anywhere on Technorati. There's buttons that let you tag automatically, or list your tags, or things like that, but nothing for the ubiquitous "blogs that link here" button that a lot of people put in their sidebar.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dave

Try the one found here: http://www.technorati.com/tools/linkcount/

(and yes, it took some digging around!)

Thanks. I did see that one, and it looked like the closest thing to what I'm talking about that Technorati published.

But I'm actually not looking to show my link count right there on my blog (since right now it's pretty small!); instead I want just to be able to click and go to Technorati and see which blogs link there.

One year ago this button was offered by Technorati, and I see it all over the place. (You can see it on my podcast's site, http://thewordnerds.org .)

I don't know where Technorati put the code now! And the trick seems to be that you need a Technorati-generated character string to make it work properly. The blog's URL is not sufficient, so I can't just grab the code from my podcast's site and alter the URL or something.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what this one does. I just removed it from one of my blogs last night and that script sure looks familiar.

Nope, not the same. I just stuck it into my blog and tried it.

The one I want to use would take you to a search results page for your blog at Technorati, and show a list of the incoming links with blurbs of the blog entries.

The one you posted above takes me to a search page where I can enter a lot of stuff (including my blog name) and get to that results page. But it doesn't just cough up the results.

I tried substituting bloginfo('name') for the_permalink() , hoping it would insert the blog name, but it didn't.

I'll leave it on my site ( http://davesmidlife.com ), but I'm still looking for the old button.

Well darn it, you're right. That's not all the one I was thinking of!

The one you want looks like:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://embed.technorati.com/embed/xxxxxxx.js"></script>

where the xx's are, I think, some sort of API key?

Yep, that's it. The question is, where do I get that key?

I sent Technorati an email asking that. (Well, actually, I asked them where to get the code for that button.)

Login to Technorati and claim your blog. Once your blog is claimed, display the list of your claimed blogs. Click on "edit settings" for the blog you want the button for. About 1/2 way down th edit settings page, just under the tags, there's a "configure embed display" area. Just click the options you want and it will give you the code.

    Aha! That's it!

Thank you a million times, jabecker! And now searchers of the WP support forums will have the true word!

I don't think I would have found this just by prowling Technorati.

No problem. It's not the easiest thing to find!

Just to make it easier for anybody who sees this thread later:

I will assume you have claimed your blog at Technorati.

Once you sign in to Technorati, click "Edit" next to your user name at the top of the window. Then click the "Blogs" tab to go to the blogs you have claimed. And there you will see the link to "Edit settings," where you can get the code to which jabecker referred.

Thanks again for helping unlock this mystery, jabecker.
