   I logged into the admin panel today to remove 1 line of code from my index.php page. I went to the template editor, removed the line and clicked the update button. Everything looked good expect I saw something I wanted to change. So I made the change, and hit update again. Suddenly my site doesn't load, so I checked my index.php file to find that the last 50% of the page was just gone. No longer there.

   I had to restore my index page from backup to restore my site. This has happened before. It appears that you can edit the page, save the changes, and when the edit template page reloads it doesn't load the entire file, Therefore when you save again it gets corrupt.

   What is causing this and how can I help resolve this error?

   What browser are you using? I used to have this exact same problem with older versions of Firefox, but it went away when I upgraded to the latest Firefox 2.0.

   I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.1

   Does this appear to be a firefox problem?

   trying to narrow it down...

   I recall, from the past, that this would happen if you went to a different FF tab at some point before clicking save.

   Did you?

   I'm 90% sure that I did. I think that I made the change, clicked save, and then went to a different tab to refresh the page and review my changes.

   Maybe I should open a bug on firefox.

   I just tested this. The problem didn't arise.

   Start the template editor, make a change.
   Go to another FF tab.
   Come back and save.

   Whole file saved or half?
