Nevermind, I saw the tutorial. What I don’t understand is why does Infinite Scroll work out of the gate with the Default Twenty Twelve theme but not an exact Duplicate?
It’s probably because of how the supporting CSS is linked between the default themes (like Twenty Twelve) and Jetpack. If you literally duplicate the theme, you may just need to be careful to update the references to the css properly.
If you make a Twenty Twelve child theme instead and you’re using at least Jetpack 2.0.2, then infinite scroll should just work in the child theme without any extra edits at all.
Yep, it worked totally fine as a Child Theme. There’s been some talk of moving away from Childthemes among some WP devs…but running into something like this makes me think it’s better to stick with it…
It’s interesting that there’s talk about moving away from them. I’m not sure moving away from child themes is good or bad. I think it totally depends on the theme and the use case.
Whether you choose a duplicate theme vs a child theme depends on a few things such as how much you are changing the theme and whether or not you want to get the benefit of the theme author’s updates.
