New To WordPress… Confused :(

    Hi, I currently use blogger, but would really like to switch to wordpress to take advantage of all the great plugins that are available.

    I just signed up and I’d like to start customizing my page. Everything I read says to upload a new theme, but I can’t figure out how. Do I need to sign up with a web host or something? I see that you can ‘upgrade’ your account to be able to edit the CSS. Do I need to do that to be able to edit the layout of my page?

    I guess I don’t know where to start and everything I read doesn’t seem to make sense since I can’t find where to upload to. Any help would be much appreciated

    What you’re talking about is WordPress.com — it is a hosted service, much like Xanga or Livejournal. If you want to avail of third-party plugins, themes and the like, you should get your own server and install WordPress (application) on your own server. A lot of hosting companies offer one-click installs of WordPress to make installation easy.
