Embedding video in place of where photos are placed on a theme

Hi community,

Please note, this question is NOT about how to embed a video in a blog post. That one I’ve got.

I’m revamping my website, and haven’t picked a new theme yet, but would like the opening page to have 3 videos across, directly playable from that screen (not switching to a separate page).

I like the layout of some of the themes that have 3 images across with info underneath. Can I turn those still images into video and will it work?

Here is a sample theme that shows 3 images. Not using this theme, but it shows what I’m talking about.
