listing categories

    I’d like to list categories and sub-categories separately. To be specific, I’m creating cascading CSS menus that should contain “folders” and “sub-folders,” much like the windows start menu or Mac OS apple menu. Can I easily get PHP to call the contents of WP’s “categories”?
