• Since upgrading to WP 2.1, I’ve been experiencing a gzencode error with regard to the Google Sitemap plugin. I’ve searched the forums, the plugin’s site, and the web. Simple Thoughts had a similar issue, but no solution.

I’m running PHP 4* (4.4.4) and the Google Sitemaps version 2.7.1.

I do not get the error when publishing the initial post. It only occurs when hitting either “Save and continue editing…” or “Save” in the editor.

    The error message is:

Warning: gzencode() [function.gzencode]: insufficient memory in /htdocs/www/wp-content/plugins/sitemap/sitemap.php on line 1249

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /htdocs/www/wp-content/plugins/sitemap/sitemap.php:1249) in /htdocs/www/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 275

I can still work with the blog, but wish to have the sitemap back up and running. By the way, I can force a rebuild with the “Manual Rebuild” function. That works.

    Any ideas for a fix?

    Thank you.
