I’d like to experiment with a different e-commerce plug-in, but I don’t want to change what is live on the site now.

How can I set up a dummy site to experiment with?

What if I created a subdomain?

That would work – as would a new install in a sub-folder.

So a subdomain or sub-folder install would allow me to keep the current e-commerce plug-in up and running on the main site while allowing a new plug-in to run only on the subdomain or sub-folder?

Just want to make sure customers won’t be able to get to or see the new plug-in or have the current plug-in disrupted on the main site while I play around with the new plug-in.

Yes. I have a couple of sub-folder installs like this on one of my domains for testing etc.
