deprecated message concerning plugins and simplepie

    Does anyone know what this error showing in the Dashboard tab>plugins means? Running on my local server for now and my site is working otherwise.

    Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/my-site/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 739

    and it continues with lots of line numbers.

    Appreciate any suggestions.

    it means the plugin code is outdated.

    check the version of php on your localhost, then go to the plugin homepage and see what it is compatible with.

    If the plugin is just old and there aren’t any updates, you will need to find a new plugin or modify the syntax in the old plugin.
