• When opening install file in web-browser I get message telling me: “You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.”

    I have tried many things:

    * Changed prefix in config file to wp02_
    * Linked web istallation to new emty database (no tables created yet)
    * Applied chhmod 755 -R wp02 for proper acessability
    * Deleted personal data from my browser Firefox 2.0.0.1

    I have access to phpMyAdmin 2.5.6 in browser, but I have not yet used this. Can I establish the right tables manually without running the install.php? each time I open istall.php I get the message:
    “You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.”

    I’m stuck

    I have now tried to go back and install wp 2.0.1, but same thing:
    ‘.__(‘Already Installed’).’

    ‘.__(‘You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.’).’

    I give up!!!!

    You posted two underscores and parentheses around those messages. Are you actually seeing those on the webpage?

    Because if so, then the PHP is not actually running at all, and your website is configured improperly. It’s not a database issue, it’s a webserver issue.

    Hi Otto42,

    I am having the same problem, though I do not have any underscores and parentheses around those messages.

    Plz. help.
