  • Guys,

I just came across an interesting information on one website (search-engine-upgrade.com/wordpress-sites.asp) of a guy (who claims to have spent two decades in the industry) that says –

“WordPress Sites, Joomla, Drupal, etc. Don’t generate traffic. You’ll have to rely on other means than search engines (TV ads, business cards, etc.) to drive traffic to them”

    IS THIS POSSIBLY TRUE?

    He further says –

WordPress, Drupal, etc. pages are not publicly cacheable (i.e., in search engines) No cache – no rank!

They are not capable of meeting Google Guidelines.

Cannot optimize – no organic optimization is possible.

For a WordPress site to exist, at all, in searches, it needs a standard web page for the home page. Without the standard (static) page, you can’t use a <meta> tag to verify for search submissions

Also note, in a CMS site, you have no ability to upload files, so you cannot use the alternative method of placing a Google, Yahoo or Bing verifier file in your site’s root directory either.

    No Google sitemaps

No way to limit Google’s Geographic Target

No robots.txt files (all search engines)

    Diagnosis: dead in the water!

Some other advise from him –

The best examples of WordPress sites, Joomla, etc have one fatal flaw – they don’t show up in searches. There’s nothing “under the hood”. The car here looks nice but won’t make it off the lot!

In the case of a web site, you won’t immediately know you have a lemon. All sites take time to bear fruit. After patiently waiting for results – you realize you have a dog, you lost a year, and must start over – from scratch!

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS POSSIBLY A TRUE INFORMATION?

Really? your client must be as clueless as the writer of the article.

I don’t believe that because all he want is to market himself. Just look at page rank of wordpress.org and you can justify of his words is just contradiction.

Here is his view on Page Rank of WordPress –

    He says

WordPress, Drupal, Joomla home sites have huge page ranks. This is because you build on their platform and you, and thousands of others like you, generate millions of link backs the them. Your blog will not inherit any of this rank you help generate, nor is your site likely to get any on it’s own.

Well, this might be somewhat true but how would it not let the site rank in search engines?

I just want to put a link of this thread infront of our client who thinks we misguided him and let to use WordPress.

start here http://codex.wordpress.org/Search_Engine_Optimization_for_WordPress also look at some of the links at the end of the article

install the seo doctor extension for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/seo-doctor/ & check some WordPress sites.

The guy that is so good with his opinions on WP should focus on his own site. After two decades in the industry he has managed to get a PR 3 site with 47 indexed pages as far as I can tell.

The point he claims as facts is total BOLLOX

And your client, if they left WP to go to this ”guy”, well, they deserve what they get

Good riddance is what I say 😀
