Theme’s Sidebar Not Writeable in WP 2.1

    Hi everyone,

    I just upgraded to 2.1 from 2.07 and I notice that the sidebar of my Letterhead theme is not writeable. Now It tried CHMOD-ing the setting to 666 and other variations, but it’s still says it’s unwriteable.

    Any suggestions?

    Edit it in a vanilla text editor (NOT word or wordpad or anything from MS!), and upload the edited version to your site.

    What is a vanilla text editor? Is there one you can recommend besides Wordpad or notepad?

    Also, in WP 2.1 are the theme files now all set to be unwriteable? The reason I ask is because when I tried CHMOD-ing, the new settings didn’t even stick.

    Text editor: try notepad2 from http://www.flos-freeware.ch – if it doesn’t “fit” for some reason, look for notepad++ using google.

    I haven’t a clue about anything to do with 2.1 – I’m not using it.
