Hi Supportive Helpers:
I "un-commented-out" the author tags in the main index file of my theme in order that the author would show in each blog post. However, now the author also shows on the pages, which is undesirable. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Seemingly you don't have a Page template in your theme.
You should create one by saving index.php as page.php and then edit whatever you want...
