I’m building a few websites that need an event calendar with categories or labels or whatever the maker wants to call them. I need to later be able to select what categories are displayed in a view. For instance, I have a city website. On that site, I want a group of events to advertise to everyone, whether visitor or resident. Call it “Advertised”. There would also be categories for citizens like garbage collection or leaf pickup. City council meetings, etc. would be there too. Once these are created I want to be able to show an events calendar linked from the Visitors’ link or the Citizens’ links that only show relevant events.

So, when you click on Calendar of Events from the Visiting OurCity menu, you’d see things like “Fun in the Park”, “Hunters’ Breakfast”, etc. If you clicked from the Citizens’ area, you’d see all that plus garbage pickup or whatever.

I’ve looked at a few, but none seem to really break it down the way I’m thinking of it.

    Thanks,
    Dan J.

  • Hello Dan
    Did you consider premium plugins?
This one looks like it can have events by categories, for example.

Thanks. I hadn’t really even thought about the fact that there were premium plug-ins. Don’t know how that escaped me. Great suggestion too. Thanks for your help.
