I used to have Jetpack, but it has disappeared. When trying to install from my website directly, I get a variety of error messages. One being that installation failed , no valid plug-ins found, and a second one that says it has already been installed. Downloading the plug-in from wordpress is not a good alternative because I don’t know what to do with it once it is installed. I have minimal wordpress technical ability so please keep this in mind when responding. Thanks so much

Are you certain you don’t already have Jetpack installed? Is it listed on your main plugins page?

Could you copy and paste the exact error messages or take a screenshot of the entire browser window where the messages show up so we can see what you are seeing?

Here is the error message. I think jetpack is hiding somewhere on my page, but I can’t find it in my list of plugins…only wordpress.com stats is listed.

Installing Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com 2.0
    Downloading install package from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/jetpack.2.0.zip…

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    Destination folder already exists. /home/hillbets/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/

    Plugin install failed.

    Return to Plugin Installer

When endeavouring to activate Jetpack I get the following:
PHP Warning: require_once(C:\Data\Websites\bobvine.gen.nz\www\Blog\wp-content\plugins\jetpack/modules/module-extras.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\Data\Websites\bobvine.gen.nz\www\Blog\wp-content\plugins\jetpack\jetpack.php on line 393
PHP Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘C:\Data\Websites\bobvine.gen.nz\www\Blog\wp-content\plugins\jetpack/modules/module-extras.php’ (include_path=’.;C:\php5\pear’) in C:\Data\Websites\bobvine.gen.nz\www\Blog\wp-content\plugins\jetpack\jetpack.php on line 393

I am aware that I must link to my other WordPress site but where do I go exactly from there please?

I’m having problems installing Jetpack also.

    I keep getting

Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible

Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [IXR -32300: transport error: http_request_failed Empty reply from server]

what does publically accessible” mean? everyone can goto my website just fine, what do they mean by publically accessible? I have the latest version of wordpress using the deafult theme with NO other plugins installed!

    stupid Jetpack! 🙁

@bobvine38 Could you try to delete all plugin files and reinstall Jetpack please? If that doesn’t help, please start a new thread about this issue.

@bubazoo Could you start a new thread about your issue, since the problem seems to be different from the OP’s?

it would also be useful if you could mention your site URL there, so I can check your site settings.
