Showing Excerpts Under Post Name?

I think this would be a cool feature / addon… the ability / checkbox to show an excerpt for each post underneath the post titles..

I’ve actually been trying to do this for the past day or so, if anyone could help me out it would be awesome! I found out where to insert the code to get the excerpt for each post, but it doesn’t work because the get excerpt code is outside the loop. I tried a number of different things and started my own thread in the wordpress support forum, still nothing.
