    Parse error: parse error in /home/peisbeib/public_html/blog/xmlrpc.php on line 1815
    There's a comment that's uncommented on that line.

    As a new user to WordPress (a likely convert from Movabletype), I'm enjoying the forums here and starting to tinker with the software. Nice job, all!
    And, relevant to this conversation: when the 1.0.1 docs say to simply upload the files, overwriting the existing files, shouldn't I be saving config files first? Or, are the relevant config files generated by the installer, and hence won't be touched by re-uploading everything else?

    installer does not have a config file mate.
    u rename a demo file to make a config file!
    so reuploading does not mess up anything regarding the configration...

    What sushubh said... lol... but don't overwrite your index.php or wp-layout.css if you've modified them! :)
    Of course, if you're upgrading from .72 to 1.0.1 then you might want to back that up, and just copy over your changes (as there's lots of nice new things :))

    I know... I just wanted to make sure it was clear that those also shouldn't be overwritten (since they DO exist in the installation package :))

    custom designs does not exist in the installation package ;)
    but yup, why not make the point clear anyways...

    @Shusshat,
    It would be a good idea to back-up your wp-config.php file so that you can always have a reminder of the database settings you need to use.
