100% Height on widget (4 posts)

    I thought by adding

    height:100%;
    min-height:100%;

    I could get thehome page widgets to stretch to fill the space as I have done on other sites. That is, each widget would be as high as the highest one. You can see what I am trying to do at the bottom of the page on http://semmesco.com/test/ I am including the code I am using below. Any ideas if this is possible and how to get it to work?

    Try using Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of CSS work.

    Any % dimension in CSS is relative to the enclosing element -- so unless your enclosing element has a set height (using an absolute measure such as px or em) -- using % does nothing. You can see this in action by setting a set height in your
    #homepage-widgets CSS declaration -- try 500px -- then the widgets DO as you want -- and fill that whole space vertically. So you could either do that OR just set a fixed height for both widgets.

    Setting the enclosing elements to a fixed height does work. I thought maybe if I set that to 100% height that would work, but it needs to be a fixed height. The page looks a lot better now but doesn't have the flexibility if the page content is edited. But I can live with that. Thank you
