I'm using Easy Digital Downloads (v 1.7.2) and am having trouble with the confirmation download links pointing to 0kb files. I've seen older posts like this that were resolved with a patch, but I'm using 1.7.2 and am still having trouble. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I've made quite a few sales this weekend but unfortunately, I'm having to email the customers alternate download links because of the issue mentioned above. Has anyone else had this problem using v1.7.2?

Go to Downloads > Settings > Misc and set the Download Method to "Redirect".

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried that last night and saved my settings and someone purchased a number of downloads afterwards, but still had this problem.

Are the files hosted on the site's server or elsewhere?

The files are hosted on my WordPress server. I created a folder:
    /wp-content/uploads/videos/

and uploaded them there. I'm using default permissions on those folders and they seem to link to the videos fine if you take the direct URL. It's just the verification links that are linking to the 0kb files.

Could you give me a working file URL to test?

now I'm noticing something else that could be useful...

I was trying to setup a Free "test" file for you, and it it seemed to work no problem. I'm using a PayPal Shopping Cart for the checkout process for any priced items. Anytime someone has had to pay for an order, there has been an issue. It seems like Free items, which avoid the Paypal plugin, seem to work OK.

Do you want a link to a purchasable item?
(It's also mature content, not sure if I should post a link here or not...)

Is "PayPal Shopping Cart" another plugin? Or do you just mean the PayPal part of Easy Digital Downloads?

oh wow great question... When I first installed Easy Digital Downloads, I assumed I needed a PayPal plugin to work with it so I installed and activated "WP Ultra simple Paypal Cart" as well. Do I not need WP Ultra simple Paypal Cart if I'm using Easy Digital Downloads?

No, you only need EDD. It includes complete PayPal integration / support.

Ok, I deactivated the PayPal plugin and did a test run, and I THINK it may be working. I'll have to see for sure when someone makes a purchase. You can consider this 'resolved' for now. If the problem continues, I'm sure I will be back :)

Thanks so much for the help! Much appreciated
