This is under options in the Admin Panel:

    Blog address (URI):
If you want your blog homepage to be different than the directory you installed WordPress in, enter that address here.

If I wanted my site to open to this page-
    http://www.2withspirit.com/?p=1

    rather than http://www.2withspirit.com/

is that where I would specify a dif't opening page?

    hope that made sense.

No, that will break your site.

Both the addresses in those two boxes need to be addresses with nothing after the domain. The information in them is used in other functions.
You seem to want that someone coming to the site lands elsewhere ?

    ok. ty.

i went back and forth on wanting the site to open to the most recent post or the first post ever made. Currently opening to most recent but everytime I post a link somewhere, I have to point the link to the first entry because first time visitors are telling me later that they would have been much less confused if it opened to the first entry.

wondering if i should follow the lead of those implementing a static page to open the site to- link to the first and last entry and let the readers choose.
:s apologies, i've been up all night with a toothache, starting to ramble....
