Extract ‘teaser’ text from the blog?

    I’d like to be able to have a small sample of my blog appear on a separate page with a ‘read the entire entry’ link beneath. Has anyone had any experience with this? I was hoping there was a PHP script I could put on my main page that could pull the first x-number of words from the current entry.

    What about RSS ?

    If you grab this plugin “RSS Fetched Link List” from http://blog.rawlinson.us/ then so long as the page you use it on is a .php page, you can pull the feed for your blog (or any rss feed) and display it.
    It works as a standalone too.

    WordPress has something like this already built into it. Check out this article in the Codex.
