I've set up a new blog and thought I would use NextGEN Gallery to manage my images. I created a gallery and uploaded an image, unfortunately the caption/description looks really strange - characters like åäö are displayed in a really strange way.

I assume it's a character encoding issue (utf8 in the EXIF is interpreted as latin1 or somthing similar), I looked at various posts in the support forum but I didn't really understand how to fix it.

I looked at the database and all tables seem to use 'utf8_general_ci', the only other encoding mentioned is the last "summary line" in phpadmin that says something like this:

13 table(s) Sum 208 MyISAM latin1_swedish_ci 443.8 KiB 0 B

Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can fix this so the EXIF info is interpreted correctly?
