It has helped me a lot. It removes the auto formatting that WordPress inserts. After you install the plugin, you can hit return twice to create a space between paragraphs. The change is site wide as far as I can tell. The plugin will not reformat old posts. You will need to go back and enter carriage returns wherever you want to separate paragraphs.
