(I wasn't getting an error, but all the automatic updates would just stop after the message that it was downloading, or maybe that it was unpacking the update.) I deactivated all my plugins one-by-one, and it seems that the Gurken Subscribe to Comments plugin may have been causing the hang-up, because all the automatic updates worked after I deactivated it.
