Alright, I think I can do that. I've been reading about this functionality and it doesn't sound too complicated so this feature might be available on Wordpress Popular Posts v1.4.7.

Thanks for the tip, Andrew!

Yes, when I write a post, I want to just type a code-phrase into the text which is then replaced by your plug-in's output when people look at that post (or page). I don't want to have to edit a template file.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your suggestion! Not sure if I got it correctly, though :P What you want is like to add a shortcut (eg. [popular-posts]) in your theme, and then my plugin should look for it and replace it with the actual php codes that handles everything.

Am I right?

How about creating a code phrase that can be used (on the HTML) edit page which causes the popular posts to be inserted?

Folks who aren't technically adept might appreciate not having to create a new 'template'. Instead they just insert the code phrase on a blank page. Then, when that page is displayed, the popular posts info appears.

Another plugin, subpage listing, does this. Their code phrase is <!–%subpages%–>

The underlying software translates that phrase into the php code call that the popular posts plugin already has.
