If you stop it from doing this with the tiny mce advance plugin it validates fine without hacking the plugin. </p> http://wordpress.org/support/topic/234979#post-1143782 Sun, 19 Jul 2009 16:00:33 +0000 mossyoak 1143782@http://wordpress.org/support/ <p>don't know if this is relevant but I was having an W3C XHTML validation error and I noticed that for some reason an extra &lt;p&gt; tag was at the start of the code just above the footnotes &lt;div class='footnotes'&gt; without a closing &lt;/p&gt; tag. I solved it by writing in HTML mode and making sure paragraphs were all started and finished properly with &lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt; tags.
