Yes.

If there is no home.php, wordpress will use index.php... But if there is an home.php, wordpress will use this file instead. Same thing for category.php, single.php, archive.php, etc.

I strongly suggest you read the documentation :
http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy

That could be one possibility. And does Wordpress automatically recognise the home.php and use it on the first page?

Hum...

What theme do you use?

Do you have a home.php in your theme directory?

If you have one, just edit this file itself to include the flash before the loop.

If you don't have one, you can create it by copying what you have in "index.php" (you can in fact rename index.php to home.php but be sure to backup index.php cause you'll still need it in your theme directory)...

Well, it IS possible to show posts on a page. There are numerous threads about that on the forums. It requires a little coding (that I don't know by heart), but that's a possibility.
Simpler, perhaps, is to make a post with the flash object and 'sticky' that. Just have a look under the "visibility" option for each individual post (there are more options there than "public" or "private").

Yes, but the thing's that I also want some posts to appear under the flash, so it ain't useful.

And you already tried to make a "page" with that flash object and set that as index under "settings"->"reading"?

Any solution in here? Somebody told me to try the "sticky" post thing, but it's not what I'm looking for, because I want a permanent flash before the post, whichs width it's bigger than the posts one, so I can't make it that way.

Nobody knows a good plugin for this?

Hey there, I've searched through the plugins page but haven't found what I'm looking for. Do you know any plugin that enables you to enter a text/html code, like a flash animation, on your homepage before showing the posts?

Thanks
