I think Platinum SEO is as simple as activating it. Look below your new posts, and you should have a window with Platinum SEO. I always manually enter that info, but if you don't I think it automatically fills in.

I've downloaded the following plugins that involve SEO:

 - Automatic SEO Links
- Platinum SEO Pack
- Vibe SEO Pack

The only problem is, i don't know how to use them. I thought I could just download it and follow easy instructions, but they're dashboards are asking for things that I have no idea what they are.

I'm truly a noob when it comes to all of this.

Can you please help me? I desperately need Search Engine Optimization to drive traffic to my site. How do I implement these plugins optimally? Are these plugins sufficient to do the job? If not, do you recommend another avenue?

Thanks,

This is my first post to this forum. I did a search re. my issue but didn't find anything.

I'm building a WP site on a Yahoo host using the Thesis theme.

www.elizabethkricfalusi.com/blog

The site currently only includes static pages and I have a couple parent/child situations, e.g. How to Help > Donate.

I have set the Thesis design options so that the parent nav link and background colors are the same as the child ones. So, for example, if I'm on Donate, I want the How to Help nav item to have white text on a green background. However, that's not happening. It seems like the How to Help page is not being assigned the current-parent class.

I asked about this in the Thesis forums and nobody was sure of what was causing the problem. However, one person suggested it might be related to the Yahoo Customizable Permalinks plugin and that it's causing WP to not recognize the parent category if permalinks aren't configured a certain way. But she didn't have an idea of how to solve it.

I wonder if anyone here has experienced the same problem and found a solution to it? I tried installing some other permalink plugins and deactivating the Yahoo one, but that only resulted in the URLs breaking.

I'm also not clear on how the permalink structure applies to static pages, since the default URLs generated don't reflect it at all.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yahoo upgraded my version of wordpress without my knowledge and all of my pages were converted into posts. Yahoo support claimed that it was because my theme was too old or that my plug-ins were not current. However, I have two separate sites and it happened to both of them. I upgraded all of my plug-ins and there was no change. My themes could not be upgraded.

I panicked, because I would have had to convert numerous posts into pages and then fix the hyperlinks. My estimate is that it would have taken 4 or 5 days of work.

I solved the problem by using the p2pConverter plug-in, available here:
http://www.briandgoad.com/blog/downloads/p2pconverter/

Amazingly, I did not need to update my hyperlinks. It took about 1.5 hours for both sites. I just clicked 'convert to page' on each post that I knew to be a page and the hyperlinks were properly restored.

If this has happened to you, give it a try. I am EXTREMELY grateful. Yahoo did not help at all after a few hours of phone calls and this plug-in resolved my issue within the same amount of time. No thanks to Yahoo. Many thanks to Wordpress!

Hi, I am using 2.8.4 of wordpress. I want to know why wordpress is throwing a warning message when i try to keep my 'Front Page display' (Settings/Reading)to show as a static page by keeping both Front page and Post page the same one ?

What is the reason for the warning message of "these pages should not be the same!" ?

However, If I want to keep like this anyway, is there any solution to it ?

- Replaced wp-content and wp-admin with fresh copies.
- Cleared cache, tried different browser.
- Installed a blank copy of WordPress to a sub-directory (worked)

Last night I made the mistake of deleting the database tool, only to find the database for the site was deleted aswell. Got to love Yahoo.

Reinstalling showed the login, but I wasn't able to get in (even with updated user/pass). It would act like it was logging in, and instead bounce back to the login page.

After that, I used Yahoo's restore tool (huge pain) to restore each file of the PHPMyAdmin from a previous backup. This took a few hours and was fruitless.

Hi folks,

My site was recently hacked due to an older version. The site redirected to some junky euro sites. I went through the FAQ and cleaned the directory out after backing up the table on the database.

The problem is now two things:
1: WordPress is a blank page, admin/root folder/everything. I can't get in, and have reuploaded the files manually half a dozen times.

2: PHPMyAdmin cannot start a session without errors. Since reinstalling it through the Yahoo "admin interface", I've had problems.

The log file says:
'[16-Sep-2009 13:32:12] PHP Warning: session_start(): open(/tmp/sess_6cfcb7422e560bf980084bc0ee5d6c93, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in /phpMA/libraries/session.inc.php on line 87

I hate Yahoo Hosting but don't have a choice in moving hosts right now. I'm pulling my hair out and would appreciate any help on this problem.

Yeah, but how would I ask the users to check their spam folders? I'd probably use an e-mail for that...and I'd rather prefer sending the password in the same mail instead of sending it separately. Not a good idea...

Instead, I was thinking of modifying the e-mail body according to some conventions using which the e-mail won't be considered as spam.

I just upgraded today to WordPress v 2.8.4. I am using Wordpress as part of my Yahoo Merchant Solutions account and I had to perform the upgrade install manually. Now none of my posts show up in Internet Explorer. They show up fine in FireFox if I set my Permalinks to the default with the post #, but if I change my Permalinks to any other setting my posts don't show up in FireFox either. I have searched in both my File Manager in Yahoo and through my FTP software (FileZilla) and I cannot find a .htaccess file anywhere. I created one in Notepad and named it 1.htaccess, FTP'd it to my root WordPress directory and then tried to rename it to .htaccess but I get an error message in my Yahoo File Manager that says "Rename failed for 1.htaccess.txt
--- Invalid filename".

I see numerous posts about similar issues but most of these are unresolved. Could someone please help?

As an end user, you have very little, if any, control over what yahoo or postini (google, hotmail, etc.. flags as spam.

Be content that its actually going through at all, and ask your users to check their spam folders.

Hi,

Recently, I set up a WordPress Blog on a public IP and got it working. I want this to be used by a known set of people and hence, I won't open the registrations for all. Due to the above, I tried registering the users manually with their respective e-mail addresses. Everything worked fine except for the fact that the Account details that go in an e-mail to the registered user are being marked as spam. I have checked this on Gmail and Yahoo as yet.

Is there a way in which I can get these notifications through the spam filters? In near future, I'm planning to register some more users and I don't think it would be a good idea to spend some more time sending them emails manually just to make sure that their account details reach them.

Bing and Google are the same grabbing from site description in meta.

Yahoo seems to be grabbing from meta, all in one CEO and your footer.

If you turn off all in one does it still happen? Not really a problem though. :^)

It's my site and it's about loans.

You can see the url in the text above.

I think Yahoo is automatically grabbing anything on the page that says Need Credit Now (the search words that the surfer enters).

Not much that I can do about it, and I shouldn't complain if I'm at the top of page one - with the exception of the paid ads.

Google doesn't seem to have the same problem when it grabs text, which is interesting.

I would assume you had been hacked unless your site is about loans, etc. What is your URL?
