I am new to wordpress and have had it for about 2 weeks. It was working fine until a couple days ago. Whenever I try to upload any photo anywhere it says "You do not have permission to upload files". I have tried going through my FTP and changing all permissions to 777 and it still not working. I have not downloaded any new plugins within the last couple of days. What could be the problem? :(
Thanks!

I think I may have a handle on some things, but at this point I need a dedicated wordpress professional. There are certain pages I want to come up and just have the articles, not all the stuff on my side bar....I have a vision for the site, but need help putting it together. Would like to speak with someone over the phone preferably, and I'd talk now, 1139pm Eastern here, or tomorrow, Sunday, if need be. I'll pay, make it worth your while. I can't see it being too difficult, just REALLY want someone who can do an outstanding job, as well as earn return business, as I am setting up other sites. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Basically, have categories, then sub categories on the sides with all the documents that I've scanned. Some of the documents would be things like budgeting and financial review sheets, that people could print out. Others would be scanned articles from magazines for my readers to view. All content is from my company, and I need to get this up and running quick. Any help would be much appreciated. You will be compensated for your time, if need be.

Since I began my blog in 2002 I ordered all my content (images etc) in monthly folders like 200908, 200908, 200910 inside a folder called /archives, like this: www.mysite.com/archives/200910.

Now I would like to use the upload functionality within WP instead of manually uploading and linking all my images, but keeping my old structure. How can I do that?

All of Wordpress install seems to be working OK - however, when i try to upload an image through Wordpress I get the error message:

"Unable to create directory /home/.sites/106/site857/web/notices/wp-content/2009/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?"

The Wordpress install directory = http://www.stmaryoftheangels.org.uk/notices and the directory structure on the webserver for the wordpress install is: '/web/notices/wp-content'

All permissions are fine and the FTP account I use can create directories and files in this directory (I checked myself through FTP client) - permissions 755 in the 'uploads' directory.

The weird thing is the path - note the leading '/home/.sites/106/site857/' before the web folder. Now in the Settings/Miscellaneous I have 'wp-content/uploads' in the Store Uploads field and the URL field is left blank (and I have tried various combinations in these settings without success). Some combinations get rid of the weird leading '/home/.sites/106/site857/' in the error message.

Can anyone help?

Heya iridiax, thanks for the response :)

OK, following the "define('RELOCATE',true);" method, I was able to successfully update some of the problems. The images are now in the proper addon domain, as well as the WP Admin section.

The one issue still remaining is the ability to log in on the site. The log in links take you to the proper domain, but it does not recognize that I am logged in. It takes me to the admin panel, and then when I visit the blog again, I am logged out.

any ideas?

I have WordPress installed on an addon domain and both the WordPress and blog URL are set with the addon domain's URL and it works fine.

For fixing WordPress and blog URL issues, see:

actually -- now i notice that i can't even log in at the shortpaleandugly.com addon URL. the "login" and "register" links automatically take you to the robkamphausen.com/blog/ URL.

and even when i do login at the robkamphausen.com/blog/ URL, it still says i'm logged out at shortpaleandugly.com (though i can make edits to that site via the robkamphausen.com/blog/ admin section)

confusing, like an episode of lost! :)
