I am working on a website that sets the image for every post using a custom field. These images are not "attached" to the posts through the library, so they do not show up in Sideposts widget.

Is there any way to make Sidepost widget to resize and show them?

I came here with the same question. However I'm using normal the_excerpt, not the Sideposts plugin. Is there a simple way to override the standard WP behavior so that links will work in an excerpt? I'm sure WP has their reasons for doing it like this, but it seems that having text in an excerpt that says 'Click here' that isn't actually clickable would confuse the user.

Hope the changes introduced in the today's release will help you with this issues:

Now you have this classes: sideposts-title, spli, spli-first and spli-last. If only showing one post, first and last does not apply.

Oway, I'm wrong, you can style the title by styling

#sidebar ul li.widget_sideposts ul a

This will affect all the links in your post, but that will be overridden by:

#sidebar ul li.widget_sideposts ul li p a

How do I format the titles of the posts in the sidebar?

I cannot do this by CSS because the title does not have markup, it's formatted as This is the title.

I've been looking into creating a template, but I have no clue how I connect this template to the plugin. Do I just call it sposts.php? And what should be in there to add e.g. a H2 tag to the posts title?

Your plugin is just what one of my customers need, but there seems to be a problem:
Search results from wpSearchMu show up in the SidePosts widget as well as in the middle of the page where we want them to appear.
I need to know how to prevent the search results from appearing as posts in the SidePost widget then, just need them in the main part of the page.
Those search results are even from pages, and posts in different categories than the SidePost widget is set up to show.

Regards, ^xRun^

A Suggestion:
Add "Title and Thumbnail" to the options' drop down menu. That should result a list of the posts with their thumbnails. Seems to be very useful for certain categories.

This also can be an idea for a new plugin with this functionality, based on "SidePosts Widget" plugin.

I'd like to add in some css to all but the last "li" so I do see a need for some sort of unique identifier at least on the first and last list item. Perhaps adding class="first" to the first li and class="last" to the last li could be added?
