I think there should be some tickbox or something that plugin authors can check on their plugin profile that basically acknowledges that they are no longer going to support it.

I see that this is getting no response, nor are there responses to problems of this sort on the author's forum.

It is sad that people put out plugins, waste people's time, and when problems arise, make no effort whatever to help out.

It doesn't look good.

Sure, these people are volunteering their efforts, but if they don't at least make an effort to help when problems arise, they are doing a great disservice to the WordPress community.

Peace,

Maybe you not added define('ENABLE_CACHE', true); in your wp-config.php

Or you are using WP 2.8.x ...

Agree with you this makes internal linking a break however the link to the user has to make sense, any ideas on how to use it effectively and just not randomly link however use a logically sequence so the user navigates in this manner.

thanks for the reply, binh. My suggestion would be a caching feature that circumvents mysql queries. But, it is a great plugin for those with fewer posts. I still think it can be a boon in conjunction with a related posts feature as it links out to tags and categories instead of specific posts only.

1800 posts are a lot. Indeed too many. Because the plugin using preg_replace function it's repeating the search for 1800 post title for each ... whatever too technical here.

Perhaps SEO Smart Links should take it to the next level and replace the links inside the database table instead, then let users to choose to update the post content using clicks, not automatic.

In your case you should only use related posts.

I love the plugin but I have one big request for it:

I would like to be able to change the color of the links. Instead of the standard link color it would be nice to have it the same as standard text and not a hyperlink color. This will help to keep the user from being distracted by the extra links.

There is a case where this plugin may generate a bit of confusion to the user.

Suppose that I've create a post where I use, for the very first time a new tag.

Following my settings, the plugin will create automatically a link to the tag, but it will actually shows ony the same post.

I think that checking how many posts are available with the same tag and ignore thetag if the value is <=1 would make the result a bit more usable.

Besides that, is a great time saver plugin!

Thanks,

Does anyone use this plugin on a high-traffic site and not see a CPU spike? Obviously a very useful plugin but it is taking a lot of resources even with something like 30 keywords. I run supercache on a 2.6.1 installation.

I have been using SEO Smart Links for a while and love it. However, there is one major drawback which I have not been able to get over and have been forced to disable the plugin.

Basically, at random points in time, the CPU goes nuts, spikes way up and the server crashes. In testing my system over the last two weeks, I have isolated SEO Smart Links as one of the problem plugins creating this phenomenon (AmazonFeed and YARPP are two others).

I am a bit stumped as to what is happening here. My site uses Hyper-Cache and has 1800 posts and about 180 tags and 12 categories.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm running a WP2.7.1 blog on PHP4.x.

I installed and activated SEO Smart Links without any problems. But when I open up my blog posts, I do not see any new links.

FYI, I'm using WP Super Cache. Even after I cleared the WP Super Cache cache and my Firefox cache, there were no new links.

I'm also using the Prosense theme.
