If you do a File/ View Source on your browser menu bar and look at the code the browser is displaying you will see you indeed do have a
<body>
tag. Now you just have to find it. If it is not in your header.php file, see if any files are "Included"
<?php include ('...
in header.php, and if so, look in those subsidiary files until you find the body tag. Once you find it add
<?php wp_head(); ?>
before it.

Apparently, I can't use the RunPHP plugin (so I can have php scripts/etc) because I am missing the following code in my header.php - now I went there, and looked for the
<body>
tag to put it above there, but there isn't one.... Help?

Hi,

You can see the problem at http://www.novajowhite.com/contact/

I have installed the RunPHP plug-in to get PHP working but it won't run. The reason why I need it to run is to add a captcha to my forms as I am getting tonnes of SPAM abuse which is really annoying.

Can anybody help?

Many Thanks,
Steven.

Does this plugin work with WP 2.7? Maybe I'm just missing something, but I'm able to figure out this step in the installation:

"Create a post and check the "run PHP code?" checkbox to enable PHP code to be dropped in to your post"

The checkbox doesn't show up anywhere when I create a new post. I'm using an admin account which can use runPHP by default, and I've checked the box in options to activate runPHP.

Thanks!

There might be a plugin that does what you want using shortcode [hide-this] something like this [/hide-this]

But I don't know the name of that plugin, if it exists.

If you want to run PHP inside a Post, I think you need to install a plugin like Run PHP,

To be specific, I'm trying to display content conditionally based on whether the user is logged in (logged in users see supplementary material, unlike protection that hides the whole post).

I'm in a real bad spot atm and need some serious help.

I was putting php code in posts in wordpress using a plugin: execPHP.

Everything was working fine all day. I don't know what changed, but now, no PHP code is converting. I've tried two plugins, execPHP and runPHP, both with the same results.

http://www.pokerjuke.com/?p=928

The entire post of that was written in the regular html (not WYSIWYG).
The posts contents are:

Learn how to correctly use a pushbot chart for late-stage tournament play.

<?php
global $userdata;
get_currentuserinfo();
$userid = $userdata->ID;

echo ('<a href="http://www.pokerjuke.com/buynew.php?subid='.urlencode($userid).'&item=pushbotguide"><span style="color: blue;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Pushbot Video Guide</span></span></a>');
?>

The things I fiddled with that could cause this issue:

I unchecked the "Use the visual editor when writing" box in the admin panel.

I changed roles of a user. I know you can set user permissions to who can run php code. The code was written by an admin with access.

That's about all I did. The only reasonable thing I think that could have caused this is disabling the visual editor. I have checked the box again and tried making new posts but I still get the same problem. Plus, I remember viewing pages after making that change and they were fine.

I don't remember editing anything at all in between when pages went from working to broken.

I'm very worried that my site is going to need a complete rebuild now Can anyone think of anything that might save me from that?

Hey all,
I started using Wordpress just over a month ago and am currently setting up my blog. One of the things I definatley wanted to include was a contact form run via PHP.

So, I looked into plugins and found this. RunPHP.
Installed it, and set up my contact form. It can be found here.

Only problem is, the mailing part of the script dosen't work. The form sets itself up fine, and the error checking works, but when it comes to sending the email, it just dosen't.

Any advice on why this is the case and how I can fix it. Thanks.

Hi, all -

I just installed and activated the latest version of RunPHP. Here's the code from the Page I'm trying to use it in:

<img src="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>reviews/ransomrest/right.gif" alt="" height="240" width="320" border="0"></img>

It's not working. When I do a "view source" from my browser, it's not even decoding. I've read earlier posts about problems with RunPHP, but they're all pretty old. Does anyone know if it's working correctly, and if so, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks...

SOLVED.

I found this thread answered my question. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/125832?replies=18

The template file was fine. The main thing is to make sure that the embedded php file has the right file path to call the wp-blog-header.php file (which is an admin file, not to be confused with the theme header.php).

Then you use your page template code to fill around the php functions.

Here's the end product: http://www.urs.science-awards.org/ugresearchnews.php

Hi there,

I have a PHP file that generates links on the fly from a newsfeed. The PHP file is read into a HTML page template that provides the formatting.

I'd like to put that feature into a static page, so that the newsfeed is part of the blog pages.

Here's the PHP file that generates the links:

Sorry if this has been touched upon but how can I get php code into my created pages? ie: under Manage, Pages, Create new page.

In this new page I would like to reference my Recent Posts utilizing the existing code from my index.php file.

Basically I want to create a "homepage" that isnt the default wordpress page but I'd like it to function the same way and reference certain posts. When I paste the code into the page via wordpress backend it doesn't work on preview, when I re-open it to edit the page the code is all messed up.

@jdembowski:

Thanks for the link to Exec-PHP, I just tried it with WP 2.2.1 and it works just fine in my posts.

I'm just using it so I can code all my hyperlinks with get_bloginfo() it makes site cloning much easier.

Great stuff, my workflow is now much more elegant :)

Hi,
I am having the same difficulties as Haecceity had.

I understand what needs to be done (put the entire php coding into one php"block"), but I don't have a clue on how to do that :(

Basically I would like to put the following code into one so that runPHP sees it as 1 block:

<?php query_posts('category_name=whatson&showposts=7'); ?>
<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

<div class="post" id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>">

<h2><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to <?php the_title(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?> &raquo;</a></h2>

<p class="postinfo">By <?php the_author_posts_link(); ?> on <?php the_time('M j, Y') ?> in <?php the_category(', ') ?> | <?php comments_popup_link('0 Comments', '1 Comment', '% Comments'); ?><?php edit_post_link('Edit', ' | ', ''); ?>

<div class="entry">
 <?php the_content(); ?>
</div>
</div>

<?php endwhile; endif; ?>

(not sure if the last
<?php endwhile; endif; ?>
has to be included or not...)

I hope someone can help me with this or point me into the right direction, that would be awesome!

Thanks,
Piet

Otto, I am using your php widget in MU. What is happening is the code I insert in the widget is being remove when I save it.

The widget goes blank.

Is this an MU issue? Is there a version of your plugin to work in MU?

I use the Exec-PHP plugin myself but have had this problem too.

The solution is to go to the My Profile link in your dashboard (top right of the page), turn off the "Use the visual editor when writing" option (make it un-checked) and save your profile.

Once that is done then you should be able to embed PHP code.

Embedding PHP code into your posts won't work even using the "Code" tab in the editor (as you have found out).

I only embedded PHP in pages and not posts. So doing this with a page that I only change once in a blue moon works for me. For posts I turn the visual editor back on.

Hi, im kind of a WP noob, so this may be fixable with some option that I overlooked or something.

I'm using a plugin called runPHP, which is supposed to execute PHP code in your posts and pages. I have it all installed and activated and working fine with one exception.

Whenever I post PHP code, WordPress filters it and replaces special characters with HTML codes.

For example, if I use ">" as an operator in PHP, WP replaces it with ">" which causes some errors in the PHP.

The only way I have to insert unfiltered PHP is to directly edit my mySQL DB, which is fine for now, but isn't going to fly if i get more authors.

I am fine with modifying it so that it doesn't filter my posts like that at all, I just don't know how to do it.

P.S: Yes, I am using the "code" tab to enter my PHP code.

hello everyone
I have been trying to get this to work for several hours but I didn't make it
I have made a script that works perfectly with standard urls like index.php?page_id=9&state=Oregon&city=Portland
basically I need to have urls like
http://www.homeinsuranceguides.com/home-insurance-quotes/Oregon/Portland/
to be reweitten to http://www.homeinsuranceguides.com/home-insurance-quotes/?state=Oregon&city=Portland
without being interpreted as standard posts
my script is in the /home-insurance-quotes/ page (which is not a physical directory on the server) and this is one of the htaccess have tried, but didn't work (this one actually causes a server error)

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^/?home-insurance-quotes/([-A-Za-z0-9_]+)/([-A-Za-z0-9_]+)/?$
/home-insurance-quotes/?&state=$1&city=$2
RewriteRule ^/?home-insurance-quotes/([-A-Za-z0-9_]+)/?$ /home-insurance-quotes/?state=$1
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

you can see it at http://www.homeinsuranceguides.com/, click the link at top right of the page
I am using runphp to execute the script and it works fine without rewriting the urls
