I have been using Custom Community theme. I had a 2 tier page menu structure which was working fine from the menu. e.g. When I hovered over my 'Babies' menu, it would show my pages underneath babies of which I have 5 pages. Now for some reason it only shows the first one of my pages (under the parent Babies) which is Baby Language. The rest of them don't show.

At the same time the menu also changed and put 'Home' on a different line to the rest of my pages.

Also another problem that happened at the same time is the features images show on the right hand side seem to have some sort of box in front of them preventing half of them from being seen.

Many thanks

Hi,

I'm new to wp and I have a question regarding menus.

I've tried using categories and the thing is when you click on a category with no posts, you will get a "Nothing found" error message; even though, there are sub-categories and posts in those sub-categories.
It's imperative that I use categories because I'll be using the "Onswipe" plug-in for mobile devices, and the only way to add something to the menu is if you added categories. In addition, I want for the category with no posts to display the sub-categories and/or a message "paragraph."

An example of what I want to accomplish:

Hi guys
I am using the theme Intrepidity theme that I like very much - but zero support on this one so I'd need your help.

My site: http://www.queeromancy.com

With this theme every time you add a page they appear in the top menu as tabs, and can be excluded. As my site as a gay and lesbian audience (psychic for the LGBT community) I would ideally like to change to color of some of the tabs associated with the pages, and display a look that is close to the rainbow flag.

That means I'd like to have in this order: red, orange, yellow, green violet, and blue tab (the blue is already there by default).

Any step by step help on the coding and how to do it would be much appreciated...

Thanks!

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to maybe configure a WordPress site to ask the user to "Choose your language" similarly to how the United Nation's website does on its front page:

http://www.un.org/

I am already using a static "Page" on my website that I'm trying to do this "Choose Your Language" thing on:

http://ktravisj.com/media4change/wordpress/

I've got one way I think it could be done, but let me know if there may be a better way:

- make the homepage say "choose your language", and do NOT have that top menu bar there yet with the choices "Members", "V-Logs and blog", etc.

- after user clicks a language, depending on what language they chose, they are taken to another "homepage" (which would really just be another "Page" of the website) that is in the language they chose, and then from there, have its menu at the top be in that language and everything, and links to those pages of the website that are literally created in each new language.

We want to have six different languages. So if I do it this way, I'd literally have six different "Menus" in my WordPress site, and then 24 different pages (those four pages that are represented at the top on that menu bar, times six languages).

The only only only drawbacks I see are two things, and they are related to the "Menu" at the top of the page.

First, I'd want to remove the top navigation menu that is on the front page:

http://ktravisj.com/media4change/wordpress/

from being there, because I want the users to be able to choose a language beFORE seeing a menu in a given language at the top of the screen yet. Is it possible to stop the menu from showing up on just a page like that?

And then secondly, if I build this site of 24 pages, some of the pages will have a menu in one certain language, and the other will have the menu in another language. Is THAT possible..? To dictate which menu shows up on which "Pages"..?

None of the tag or category links were working - all giving a page not found error.

I checked the old site still running on the previous hosting companies servers and that works fine.

The solution was to switch to an out of the box theme (eg. twentyeleven) - test (yes it works) - and then switch back. That fixed it!

Perhaps the tag.php or category.php wasn't loading properly for some reason?!

Either way, it's working again now.

Obviously when you write a new post there isn't a drop down menu in the admin post page to select a parent, unlike when you create a new page. Is there a plugin that will allow me to assign articles to a parent page?

For example, I have a page called 'Work' with static content on. My theme is setup to add a new piece of work using Posts and not pages. Using the new Menus option in WordPress v3 I would like to assign each new piece of work to sit under the 'Work' parent. How can I do this?

For reference, I don't want all work posts to be displayed in the navigation is any form, I just want the children of the 'Work' page to be a bunch of posts. I'd also just like to have my ".current-menu-item a" styles to be applied to the 'Work' link when viewing a work post.

I hope that makes sense :)

I had the same problem like you and I used this link:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

After create a custom menu (Appearance > menus), add categories and pages to your custom menu, finally choose it like primary menu (KIN template only works with one)

Kin's manual is not very clear, it seems more easy than true.

I'm trying to create a custom meta box in the admin=>appearance=>menus page and have it's items save in a menu, just like the other meta boxes (post/pages/categories/tags/links).

The wp api does not seem to make this easy. I've managed to create a custom meta box but I don't know how to get it's items to show up in a menu once "add to menu" is clicked.

if anyone could help me out I'd really appreciate it. I assume there is ajax involved but I can't find where to do what.

Thanks.

Menus are made of up of lists of Pages or Categories. Therefore you cannot "decide between Pages or menus" since that's like trying to compare apples & oranges. Whether the menu(s) on your site contain links to any Pages is entirely up to you. How you create the menus themselves is also up to you as WordPress offers a number of different approaches to suit different needs.

I am trying to make sense of what you mentioned. As a matter of fact, , I know how to create pages and menus. However, I am at a loss whether I should create pages for top navigation or menus. Currently, I have menus listing up in the navigation. But the links are not going anywhere. On the other hand, if I create pages, I can immediately get links to the pages I have created.

I was wondering if there is a way (I've searched for a plugin with no success) to add the Media Post type to the menus system. Basically, I just want to make it easier for someone to link to a PDF via the Menus system by utilizing a checkbox system on the menus page rather than cutting and pasting the file URL from the Media Library entry.

Does anyone know if this is even possible? I know that everything in WordPress is basically a "post type" so I figured it would be but I'm not sure where to start.

Thanks for reading!
