Hi.
I have installed Members only plugin and the reason is that my blog is for two user groups. One group will have to log in to see all my posts (both private and public) other group doesn't have to login and doesn't, therefore, see my posts that I mark as private only the public ones.
Now, I am creating 20 user with login name and passwords but the problem is their roll, if I choose admin they will be able to edit my post (which I don't want!) and if I choose lower roll they won't be able to see my "private" posts.

Does anyone have a solution to this roll problem?

Thanks,
Andri

bestjimmy. I am not an expert, but I know that at least in the later versions of wordpress you can specify a password requirement per post, at the top right of the post edit admin screen. Not sure if you can do this for pages but worth a look.

Is there a way to make Members Only work on just one page within the site?

For example, a person clicking a "residents only" nav button from the publicly viewable home page would be required to login?

I want the public to have access to the site, and have just one or two pages password protected. And there have to be individual passwords for each user.

Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer.

I would like to open my site to non-registered users so I unchecked the members only option and set the redirection to the front page. However if registered users log in and go to their dashboard area and decide to log out they will be redirected to the login page. How do I change that such that they will be redirected to the home page since the website is open for public to view? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Set new user accounts to be 'Subscriber' (under Settings --> General), and they'll only have access to the Dashboard, their profile, etc. They won't see the posting interface, and they won't see any settings or plugins.

This allows the Members Only plugin to work - only people with accounts on your site will have access to your content.

Give it a try - make a new account (under Users --> Add New) and log in using another web browser (or log out of your admin account, first). You'll have very limited access to the WordPress interface, for the purposes of setting your profile details and getting your feed key, for RSS access.

Guys I'd really appreciate some help as I'm clearly missing something. I want to make the content of my site available to members I give a username and password to. Obviously I don't want them to have access to the admin area. I've downloaded the Members-Only plugin but when I come to configure it the Login Redirect box gives the choice between the Dashboard or the Frontpage. If I set it to Dashboard I'm assuming that anyone will be able to access the admin area of my blog and if I set it to Frontpage I will be sent to the Frontpage and won't be able to access the admin area.

I may be making this much more complicated than it actually is but I can't see how I can have access to the admin area to make ongoing changes and give the users access to only the content. It seems to be either one or the other.

If there are any other plugins that will do the job please let me know.

I'm actually using WPMU 2.8.1

I am using Theme My Login plugin so I don't have to go to the traditional login page. I am also using the plugin widget so people can log in from the side bar.

I added the Members Only plugin in hopes to allow registered users to be the only ones to view content.

So far everything works perfectly...except, once you go to the site, it redirects you to the login page, as it should, but my concern is for new people who want to register, if you click on register or the lost password link, that still returns you to the login page.

Has anyone run across this and/or is there a fix?

Thanks!

I Searched for the text I wanted to replace, replaced it and it works now...

An implemented solution for different languages would have been easier. maybe
you can add this to future releases.

Hi,

first of all: thank you for this plugin. It's exactly what i've been looking for and it just works.

I have one minor request, though. Is it possible to add support for different languages. My users are german and even though most of them do know their way around english some don't. For those the following message is just gibberish:

"Welcome to *your site* This site is accessible to approved users only. To be approved, you must first register."

So, i have been looking through your coding and some of the wordpress files, but I wasn't able to find the message anywhere. Please tell me where to find it.

Maybe you could add a input field to your plugin settings, where administrators can type in their own custom messages. That way the plugin will become language independent.

Thanks again.

I am using the Members Only Plugin, to make my blog private. It works fine, but if I set the front of the blog to a page (IE - my homepage), it bypasses the plugin.

So, if I am logged out and I try to browse the homepage, it will let me in, as soon as I try to click on another page, it asks me to login.
