Over all, I really like this plugin, and it works great.

The problem I have is when I try to add a sidebar widget containing javascript. The widget will work fine, but the lightbox will stop working. The images it is attached to will do *nothing* when clicked on.

I'm running the latest version of wordpress, and the latest version of this plugin. I've tried activated/deactivating and the result is the same. Lightbox just will not come up if there is javascript in the sidebar. If I remove the java-widget, lightbox goes back to working fine.

Is there any way to get these two to work together?

I am using cufon to replace the font on my h1, h2 and so on, everything except the body copy. The lightbox plugin is working fine but unfortunately Cufon stops working on any of the single posts that use the lightbox.

I'm having the same issue, and looks like the most direct way to 'turn off' the lightboxoff custom field is by disabling 'auto-lightbox' in settings >> lightbox.

The down side here is (as it says) "Automatically add rel='lightbox[post-ID]' to images in posts. All images in a post are grouped into a lightbox set."

If either of you find a more elegant solution allowing for automatic to be checked, and yet still getting rid of the 'lightboxoff' custom field please do let me know.

See my post on this issue on the author's plugin page.

In order to get this to work on existing posts that have not been re-saved after Lightbox 2 Wordpress Plug activation, you have to update the code in version 2.0.2, lightbox.php, line 48. Add another check for the $lightboxoff condition.

function lightbox_wp_head() {
 global $lightboxpluginpath, $post;
 $lightboxcolor1 = get_option("lightbox_color1");
 $lightboxlb_opacity = get_option("lightbox_lb_opacity");
 $lightboxlb_resize = get_option("lightbox_lb_resize");
 $lightboxoff = false;
 $lightboxoffmeta = get_post_meta($post->ID,'lightboxoff',false);
// if ($lightboxoffmeta == "false") {
 if ($lightboxoffmeta == "false" || $lightboxoffmeta == '') {

The function get_post_meta() will return an empty string if the post meta for that key is not found (as is the case for all posts created BEFORE the plugin is activated). Updating the check for both false and null string accomplishes this:

IF 1) there is lightbox 2 meta-data for this post and the ‘lightboxoff’ value is set to false
OR 2) there is no lightbox 2 meta-data for this post, so assume lightbox is turned on

This is an excellent plugin, but to assure that it works for posts created prior to activating the plugin, the code needs to be updated.

// if ($lightboxoffmeta == “false”) {
if ($lightboxoffmeta == “false” || $lightboxoffmeta == ”) {

The third parameter for get_post_meta does not work like get_option (return the third parameter if no value is found). It only serves to indicate whether to return the data, if found, as a string or an array.

After upgrading WP to 2.7 and the plugin to its latest version is was not working properly. It seemed to me that the script was not included into the HTML.

Thanks for your hard work on this plugin

The new version of lightbox 2.04 (1.8) doesn't work in IE7, and is buggy in FF 2.0

In IE, it causes an error dialog box "Error, this page cannot be displayed" and then will not load the page. Disabling the plugin fixes this problem

In Firefox, it causes a black flicker when a page is loaded. But then the page loads fine.

I had to clear my cache on Firefox. I noticed the issue when I would try to access the .js files related to Lightbox directly. It kept referring me to a WordPress "Page not found" error. I also noticed the HTTP response was 304 (Not changed). I cleared the cache and, lo and behold, Lightbox worked.

Are you using No-Script? If so you need to allow the page to execute Javascript. If for some reason Javascript is just not simply working in Firefox then you may have another plugin causing the problem. Perhaps try disabling them all and restart to see if it works. If so then enable your plugins one at a time until you find out which one is causing the problem. You can do this by utilizing the safe mode option as well without having to manually disable everything one at a time.
Another (and immediate) option is to create a new, clean profile. Go into your Firefox folder (most likely c:\program files\mozilla firefox) and in a DOS window type "firefox -profilemanager" and create a new profile. You can always go back to your current one. If it's working now reinstall the plugins you want and test the script one at a time. It can be time consuming if you have a lot of plugins but it's an effective way to solve the problem.
Hope that gives you something to start with.
