Hey people!

Now at work I have started making a Wordpress presentation for the people at work. They don't understand it very much of what it is etc. The people I am gonna show it for is designers, developers and projectmanagers. This is short of what I have planned:

Wordpress
- About Wordpress
- The ever expanding Wordpress
- *dashboard screenshot*
- What is posts and pages?
- Categories
- Widgets
- *example of what widgets might look like and used, screenshot*
- *the widget part of the dashboard, screenshot*
- 5 reasons to use Wordpress as a CMS
- How does a regular Wordpress site look like?
- The regular blog structure
- Example 1 website using Wordpress, cooking community
- Example 2 website using Wordpress, architech blog
- Example 3 website using Wordpress, the ford story
- Example 4 website using Wordpress, fashion website
- ?

So thats what I got at the moment, the designers I want them to get ideas how to design new and good Wordpress sites, the devlopers I just want them to get an eye on what it is and showing the projectmanagers what kind of clients might be interested in this.

So I want ideas, what can I do to make it better? Any good ideas out there? So it aint a presentation how to use Wordpress, its more about its features and strong points I want to focus on!

We're developing a site for an academic institution and will recommend using WordPress as the platform. We'd like to enable students to create their own sites using WordPress and am wondering is there is any enterprise-type of WordPress that would allow us to administer properties for 400 students. Would it be easier / safer to just create sub-domains and install an individual copy on each?

Thanks in advance for your input.

OK. I've written a VERY simple plugin that uses a Filter to process the $content for a post and append the revisions list. I had to copy the wp_list_post_revisions() function and modify it, because the "real" function just dumps the list via echo, rather than returning a string for display.

Now to see if I can submit my hacked plugin to WordPress.org/extend/plugins...

I'm using WordPress (WPMU) with several professors who are having students post and comment as part of their class activities.

They'd like to be able to see at a glance what the revision history is for a post, without having to gain admin access to the blog to view the edit interface for the post.

Is there a way I can add an audit trail for revision history on a post as it's displayed on a blog? Something like a footer or popup with a list of edits (times, dates, authors, links to view the revision...)?

This is a really broad subject and therefore I just wanted to get some ideas of things that maybe I have not thought about in terms of design and functionality.

Is there anything that would need to be included that I haven't thought about?

Yes there would be pages for different lessons but that would really be for the author of the specific site to complete rather than the site design.

Certainly a contact form would help and will be included. I like the idea of author profiles too which is a really good idea (thans ladycrow) as there may be many contributors to the website.

Any more ideas from anyone then keep them coming, please.

This is a very broad subject - broad to the point that I am not sure even what you mean. I think most themes could be use for a site that has an education related purpose but it really depends what the purpose of the site is.

Will it have lessons? Then the theme should have, perhaps in the sidebar, a link to all lessons.

Will it display related news? Then news categories and comments would be helpful.

Advice for other teachers (or students?) then a contact form to ask advice.

A zine-type could have article displayed prominently, author profiles, an easy way to submit content and a link for potential 'staff' to register.

An official website might require an official logo or header but..

These are just stabs in the dark. "Themes for education" doesn't give me any sort of clue what types of sites would use them therefore I don't know what would make my experience best.

Over the last few weeks I have been working on a site that will concentrate on Wordpress themes for Educational Use. Wordpress is such as dynamic and brilliant platform for web publishing that it could easily be used in order to publish websites for educational establishments around the world. What I am hoping to do is to create a set of themes that will enable people to do this easier.

So why am I telling you this? Well I would love your opinions on what sort of features you would like to see in Wordpress themes for education.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Today I have launched a new site. We are specializing in Premium Wordpress Themes which are aimed at Education. These themes would be great for schools and colleges and even for eLearning such as a department website for students to use. You can find us at educationthemes.co.uk. At the moment there are only a couple of themes but this will grow and grow soon.

So if you are a educational establishment, a head teacher or head of department and you want an affordable website for your school or college then why not use Education Themes will Wordpress?
