Hello everyone,

I've installed a wordpress blog and installed the dTabs plugin. I have been trying to figure out how to change a single link within the drop down menu? Is there anything I can do within the plugin or do I have to use CSS?

If the information isn't enough, could someone please tell me what else they need to know?

Thanks,

I am extremely new to wordpress and extremely frustrated!! I would appreciate any help!!

I have the iq2 theme and dTabs. After figuring out how to create a horizontal bar and tabs I cannot figure out how to have sub-menus. I added about 5 different categories but none of them are showing up as drop-downs and I can't find any dTab resources.

Also, does anyone know how to make the post header above the pictures in iq2.

I would appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Here is the site: http://www.englexasphotography.com/blog

This is css a problem in Firefox 2 which does not handle "display: inline-block;" correctly. It has been fixed in Firefox 3 and it will also be addressed in the upcoming release of dTabs.

In the meantime a checkout the fix in dTabs support and feedback.

Try re-installing Kubrick Tabs, it sounds like somewhere along the way maybe you've overwritten Kubrick Tab's style.css with Kubrick's style.css

Just installing and activating dTabs and installing and enabling Kurbick Tabs should display some default tabs (formatted as tabs) straight out of the box.

Sometimes documentation can be missing things. That's typically why you get unstyled items... they forget to tell you to copy a file to your theme directory. Or tick a checkbox. One little css file can light up your whole blog.

That's why I suggested using FireBug to look at the "unformatted" elements and find out what styling has been applied. If there's minimal styling, that is what you're missing. Or, if you've got JavaScript disabled and it's using jQuery, there you go...

It's hard to suggest much more when you're running it on localhost. You might want to try the plugin developer.

Did the dTab docs mention any stylesheets? Any .css files in the plugin dir? They may have introduced new CSS classes which are not in your style.css. You may need to add styling there for the tabs.

Or, you may have style rules interfering with the styling.

You might want to use Firefox and Firebug - you can browse to the tabs and see exactly which css styling is being applied, and tweak it.

I'm totally new to wordpress. I've installed the dTab plugin on my localhost and applied the Kubrick Tabs theme. Sure enough I get a horizontal menu above the header but the items are just hyperlinks - they are not formatted as tabs. What stupid thing have I / haven't I done.

What you have changed there is just a comment.

You have to, somewhere in the code, change perhabs:

to tell the list to be displayed, well, inline.

Ok, so I think I have a workaround. I set the left margin for the drop down at -400px and the top margin increased by 10px or so. I'm not sure how well it'll work in the long run, but seems to be ok right now. Now, I just gotta figure out how to make the drop down wider so the test doesn't wrap strangely.

I'm REALLY liking the dtab plugin, but I've run into a problem when a parent tab lists the drop down. It would be best explained by just visiting the site:

http://74.54.217.242/~jmarty/ccc/

This site isn't live yet, so thing might look broken, but take a look at the "About Cornerstone" tab. When you hover, the drop down appears way off to the right and it wraps too short.

Is it the theme?

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/dtabs/

update:
i have a working ugly hack for myself, for now. more elegant solutions welcome. posting in case this helps someone else.

for me, the name of the tab that wasn't getting recognized is 'blog', so i just added a couple of lines of code.

if ($current_tab == $tab['name']) {

// 18jan08 begin hack

} elseif (($current_tab == 'NULL') && (preg_match('/blog/',$tab['name']))) {
$class = 'tabselected';

// end hack

Hi budoink,
You may remember having a conversation with me a few weeks ago about a problematic behavior in dtabs involving a case where the active tab doesn't properly get styled as active. Since I can't get to your site, I can't see whether you've already resolved this. Did you find a fix, or am I on my own to poke at the php code?
Thanks.

Hi budoink,

I like dtabs but it isn't working for me on 2.3.2. I will buy your domain and host it for you for free if that helps.
