I've created a plugin that adds a shortcode to your WordPress blog, the [delicious_tagroll username="delicious username"] shortcode.

Demo: http://www.soderlind.no/bookmarks/
You'll find it at: http://www.soderlind.no/archives/2009/11/18/delicious-tagroll-for-wordpress/

I am still using the "del.icio.us for Wordpress." Remember, when you are setting up the widget… instead of using your actual delicious username, fake it out and put in the word "tag".

Hi Joseph,

Thanks for your reply. I can see the box before XML-RPC is ticked under Settings -> Writing. But somehow Delicious still returned this error message.
I wonder if there is anything to do with the xmlrpc.php I entered... thanks

Hi,

The website (tm.mbs.ac.uk) is built on WordPress MU. I was trying to post delicious bookmarks onto one of the users' blog by creating 'blog posting' in delicious settings. Though xml-rpc is enable on the website, I received the following message:

"ERROR: Failed due to XML RPC2 Exception: 405 : XML-RPC services are disabled on this blog."

I entered http://username.mbs.ac.uk/xmlrpc.php as "out_url". Is this the right one? What should it be?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I just noticed the same thing today and came across this post. I did some digging and found delicious must have changed something (not sure when).

Here's the fix:
Open up delicious.php.
After line 60 put this:

$rss .= '?count='.$num;

I just set this plugin to work on my links page, so I am using this code in the links.php template:

<?php delicious_bookmarks('ib4b', 50, true, false, true, '', true, '', false, false); ?>

As you can see I have the number of posts set to 50, but on the links page it does not display past 15.

If I put less than 15 it shows the correct number, but anything more and it doesn't display it.

Any help?

Thanks!

For a long time I've had Delicious setup to post my Delicious bookmarked links to my blog. A few weeks ago something started introducing "\n"'s into my posts.

You can see what it's doing on this post: http://blog.mattgoyer.com/archives/2009/06/06/links-for-2009-06-06/

I'm not aware of any changes to my setup. Also, the Delicious support team doesn't believe the problem is on their end.

Thanks,

@janmichael: Custom fields could definitely take care of this. Perhaps you (or a programmer you know) could mod my Simple Pull Quote plugin to suit your needs.

Dear all, I am no Wordpress expert at all, but want to figure out something which might be trivial to you – maybe not. Maybe someone might just give me a hint.

I would like to display a stream of quotes in the side column of a blog which are taken out of quotes I used in normal blog entries. As an example (not by myself) you might check dirkvongehlen.de to see what I mean – there are quotes in the side bar/middle column linked to blog articles in which these quotes are used in their full version.

I thought about implementing this in a way which sets on social bookmark service Delicious:

As soon as I write an article which contains a longer quote which I want to display on my home page’s quote column (or anywhere else) I could bookmark the quote in my Delicious account, entering the quote text in the Delicious description field and the quote author in the Delicious title field, and tag these quotes with a specific tag, e.g. “quotes-for-my-blog”. Then I could syndicate the quotes in my blog by embedding exactly these Delicious entries tagged with “quotes-for-my-blog”, displaying title and description in an appropriate way styled with CSS.

But to rely on a third-party service just to pull out some content of my blog posts and displaying them in my blog in another place seems to me like a nice, but not-perfect hack. I wonder wether there is any other way?

Could I use custom fields? One custom field for the quote author, one for the quote text? And then syndicate only the contents of these fields in such a way that I can have them displayed as a quote stream on certain pages?

Or is there any totally different way? A plug-in which might do exactly this?

Thanks in advance!

Yes-- same problem. And I used to use the feature successfully (sometime in the August-November 2008 time frame).

I see there are plugins (Postalicious) which don't seem to be compatible to the current version of WP. Any other workarounds would be welcomed.

Does anyone have a better solution for this? I've got a ton of tags and want a user to be able to 'drill down' and add as many tags as they like. I'm setting up a CSS gallery and think it would be a real benefit to have the sites be sortable by multiple tags.

I've searched for a plugin that does this and couldn't turn one up, then I looked at implementing it myself and haven't figured it out yet. I see you can just tack on more tags to the URL by just adding '+tagname' and it works fine, but I guess I need to figure out a way to give this control to the user using only tag links on the page.

Hey everybody.

I'm using the "del.icio.us for Wordpress" plugin to display COMMUNITY delicious tags on my blog. Keep reading if you're interested in doing this.

I wanted to be able to display community tags in addition to my own links to try to use the already cool feature of tag subscriptions, but on my blog.

Using WordPress, the code to use the plugin looks like this:
delicious_bookmarks('username', [bookmarks], [list], [timestamp], [display-tags], ['filter-tags'], [display-desc], ['nodisplaytags'], ['globaltags'], , [encode_utf8]);

Instead of putting your actual delicious username, put in the word "tag". This in turn references http://delicious.com/tag/ instead of http://delicious.com/username

Then just fill in the rest as you would normally. Simple, but deadly effective.

Happy blogging.
-Dan

This may have already been posted, but I couldn't find anything on it.

I have a tip optimizing your wp sociable plugin. its a big optimization, it will greatly increase page loading time.

there is a plugin called global translator.
http://www.nothing2hide.net/wp-plugins/wordpress-global-translator-plugin/

that plugin has 30 small buttons like sociable, then he used a new type of thing that make all the in one image, you can download that plugin in check it. now when page loads it opens one image instead of 30. which maked loading very fast.
the other day i was just browsing internet, and found a page optimizing MAY be related to these stuff.
http://www.websiteoptimization.com/speed/tweak/css-sprites/

well i am not a coder so i cant help you. and sorry about my bad english.

if you check the global translator plugin, you will find easily how he able to load the images in one but still when you click on it its 30 different links.

thanks

I looked for a very long time to find a tag filter system similar to what you are describing, but I couldn't find one, so this is what I came up with for my page:

sciemploy

I used the plugin, Category Page which can be found at:

Category Page

It lets you connect pages to your category archive pages, showing them as a header. So, whatever you put in the connected page will show up as a header every time you click the category it has been connected to. The beauty of this is that you can have a separate header for each category that you have.

Using that plugin, I connected an unpublished (so it wont show up on the title bar) page to each of my categories, which on my website, are the provinces of Canada. For the Category Page plugin to work properly, you have to publish the linked page when doing the connection. You can then switch it to unpublished right after, though.

Each of the connected pages has a set of Icons with links that look something like:

http://sciemploy.ca/tag/environment+bc/
http://sciemploy.ca/tag/engineering+bc/
...etc

For each category, you have to switch the second tag in the link to match the category it will be searching within.

So on my website, when you click a category (Province), it shows all of the companies in my directory from that province, but when you click on the buttons in the category page header, it essentially does a double tag search (Province + Industry).

You just have to make sure you tag all of your posts with both the Category name and your refined search parameter. In my case, I tag every post by Province, which is also the category I file it under, and by the Industry.

I've realised that you can do tag combinations by adding the second tag after a plus-sign i.e. example.com/?tag=tag1+tag2

Is there anyway of making a tag cloud dependent on which other tags have been selected, so that you could narrow it down?
