Hello,
It seams like the Wordpress embedded check-password-strength functionality in
user-edit.php is not being carried over properly when using CYK.

When a user access his/her CYK-user profile they get the following java console error:
‘check_pass_strength’ is undefined in profile.php

Wordpress version 2.8.5
Plugins: CYK version 1.2.1
URL: localhost for the time being
Browsers: IE 8.0.6, Firefox 3.0.15

So far this plugin has been the only thing to eliminate the logout issue where you get a warning when trying to log out. THANK YOU!

First I would like to know if there is a way to take your logout link and put them into the top of my right side-bar.

Also there seems to be a glitch in IE7 (I usually use Firefox but found this when testing). The user logs in. When they go to another page and then come back to their profile page they have to login again. They lose the login once they leave the page.

On Wordpress 2.8 and above the code provided by nomatteus does not work.

To make it work you have to change
elseif ($is_profile_page)
to
elseif (IS_PROFILE_PAGE)
in /wp-admin/user-edit.php

I have searched everywhere for a solution to this problem! Perhaps my Googling skills need some more practice :P

I would like to implement a fully custom user registration page on a Wordpress site. I would like to use custom fields which would include radio buttons and option fields. It needs to include some sort of captcha system, form validation and insert everything into a database.

After the user has entered the required information to register, the next part (either to a separate PHP page or through AJAX) would have to send a double opt-in activation email to the user while inserting a few extra fields which would enable the user to invite friends. Once that is submitted, it would have to send those emails.

All it has to do is allow users to register and login to write comments, receive a newsletter and be pre-registered to a forum which would be implemented later.

Over and above that, these have to have custom CSS and include the site's header, footer and possibly sidebar!

I have achieved this on a non-Wordpress site but am struggling to get information on how to do this within Wordpress. It seems a lot more complicated. A plugin it seems, won't do.

You mean Customize your Community plugin, right? I have no plans to integrate with it. The idea is there, to give some similar interface in a later version but, by now, it's just an idea.

I'm sorry but, by now, your other request is not possible by now. As Gallery is an optional component that can be present or not, I don't like to rely on it to make names clickable.

Any way, some filters and actions have been implemented for next release that will allow you to create your plugins or custom functions for it. In future versions, also some functions will be provided to get community data for your developmnents.

Hi there,

since I'm using my own function inside a functions.php to list all users, I basically just need alkivia/User Community for the awesome gallery function and the nice user profile.

Now, is there a way I can integrate your plugin with CYC? How would I go about having the user upload his images to the gallery without actually seeing the dashboard.

Another thing I'd like to do is make only those usernames clickable that have uploaded an image. Possible?

And finally, your photo freaks me out :) Your eyes are piercing!

I've been using the User Photo plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-photo/) for a while now with no problems and recently installed the Customize Your Community plugin. Everything works great except after uploading a User Photo as any user (below Admin status), nothing happens. The photo gets uploaded to the server, but the profile page doesn't tell or show anything acknowledging the photo was uploaded. When I turn off the CYC plugin, it works. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I ran into the exact same problem, and it's pretty much a dealbreaker if it can't be fixed. So I played around with the code and managed to put together a fix. (I haven't tried the alternative plugin mentioned above--it may be better, but regardless this is a fix for anyone that wants to keep using the CYC plugin!)

Nothing elegant, but prevents users seeing the admin screen!

This involves editing the following two files:

/wp-admin/user-edit.php -- CORE WordPress file

/wp-content/plugins/customize-your-community/cyc.php -- Main Plugin File

As you should always do, be sure to make a backup to these files before going in and editing them!

In /wp-admin/user-edit.php, find the following (~line 143):

if ( !is_wp_error( $errors ) ) {
	$redirect = ($is_profile_page? "profile.php?" : "user-edit.php?user_id=$user_id&amp;"). "updated=true";
	$redirect = add_query_arg('wp_http_referer', urlencode($wp_http_referer), $redirect);
	wp_redirect($redirect);
	exit;
}

and change it to (adding an elseif statment):

if ( !is_wp_error( $errors ) ) {
	$redirect = ($is_profile_page? "profile.php?" : "user-edit.php?user_id=$user_id&amp;"). "updated=true";
	$redirect = add_query_arg('wp_http_referer', urlencode($wp_http_referer), $redirect);
	wp_redirect($redirect);
	exit;
} elseif ($is_profile_page) {
	$redirect = "profile.php?" . "errors=" . urlencode(implode('||',$errors->get_error_messages()));
	wp_redirect($redirect);
	exit;
}

What this does it redirects back to the profile.php page (which will be the non-admin styled one), and sends a get variable with the output text of the errors. It's sent as a "piped" array.

Second, open up /wp-content/plugins/customize-your-community/cyc.php, and find the following (~line 275):

if ($_GET['updated'] == true) {
	echo '<p class="message">Your profile has been updated.</p>';
}

and change it to (again adding an elseif statment):

if ($_GET['updated'] == true) {
	echo '<p class="message">Your profile has been updated.</p>';
} elseif ($_GET['errors'] != "") {
	$error_messages = explode("||", $_GET['errors']);
	echo '<p class="message">';
	foreach ($error_messages as $the_msg) {
 echo "$the_msg<br />";
	}
	echo '</p>';
}

This looks for the errors GET variable and if found, prints out each error message. This code can be changed to display the errors however you like, for example in a red box, etc.

This should solve the problem. If anyone tries this out let me know if it works for you!

An important note: Since you've changed a core WordPress file and also the plugin code, you'll have to be careful when upgrading both the WordPress core and the plugin. You either will have to upgrade manually, or make the above changes again after doing an automatic upgrade.

That should be it! Hopefully a real fix will make it into a future CYC version...

Matt

CYC is pretty impressive, and I got it to do what I want it to do :)
But since my site is going to be in 4 languages, I installed qTranslate to do the job.
Unfortunately, CYC ignores the "?lang=xy" parameter I add to the profile page.

So now I'm wondering, how do I get CYC to use the language I tell it to? Where do I need to pass the parameter? Where do I edit cyc.php? I see nothing in it that hints to this "takeover" .

Help :(

I was testing out the redirection functionality of the WordPress login -- if you visit a page that requires logging in, WordPress will forward you to login page and then redirect you back to the original page -- in the CYC plugin, but it was not working. I have pages on the front of the site that require log in; logging always took my subscribers to the profile page.

As it turns out, there's a LOT of code in CYC for determining what $redirect_to should be, but that variable gets left out of login form. I added the following line of code around 553 -- inside the `<p class="submit">' -- and it appears to be working fine:

<input type="hidden" name="redirect_to" value="<?php echo $redirect_to; ?>" />
