I too have the validation errors on my comments page due to the javascript and css codes of this plugin. I really wish it would be fixed so I could continue using this great plugin.

Since my upgrade to WordPress 2.8, the plugin (version: 2.7) doesn't work anymore, claiming:

Warning: preg_replace_callback() [function.preg-replace-callback]: Unknown modifier '|' in /home/SOME/WHERE/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 1347

Also, the plugin doesn't allow the typical cry-smiley
:'(
- would it be possible for you to enable that particular one, please? :)

Thanks in advance,

I was thinking it might also be good to have 2 shortcodes for 1 smilies but only 1 is appearing as clickable.

For example, T_T and :cry: can be changed into the smilies but only 1 of the shortcodes appear as clickable.

That would be good for people who use different shortcodes. :D

It's a good idea. I will add JS to head tag.

In so far as arranging the ordering of the smilies, I will think howto do that.

The CSS and JavaScript for this plugin is not added to the head tag but added before the smilies. This resulted in validation issues. Can you please edit it such that those codes are attached inside the head tag instead of being in the middle of the page?

And is it possible to arrange the ordering of the smilies?

Thanks :)

Today I ran the upgrade for the plugin Custom Smilies, taking it to 2.6. This is on WP 2.7.

The new version of the plugin does not work on my single post pages, and caused my posts to not display. I had to deactivate the plugin for now. I would like to get it back. Please fix!

Thanks for the plugin. Anyone know the problem here?

I do use the php template tag function call to manually place the smileys where I want them in my Comments area. I do not allow the plugin to automatically insert the smileys.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-smilies-se/

Dgold on "Custom Smilies SE hack for if you use the PHP function to display the emoticons"

This is an awesome plugin.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-smilies-se/

But for those who want to use the PHP call instead of automatically placing the emoticons below your comments form.

This is the PHP to put in your Comments template,

<?php if ( function_exists(cs_print_smilies) ) {cs_print_smilies();} ?>

To make it work without displaying twice (such as above and below your Comments form), you may need to hack the plugin code like this for now:

You can remove the line 368 in for25.php, so it will be the same as 2.2.

And now a secret tip for anyone who didn't feel like counting 368 lines. The line to remove is this:

add_action('comment_form', 'cs_print_smilies');

The plugin author has said he will work on adding an optional switch so it won't be necessary to hack the code for this then.

I have had to do this 2 or 3 times now, when upgrading. It took me a while to find the line # in the code again, or the post on the author's blog about it, so I decided to post this here for all.

For me v2.3 is not working with WP 2.7 and internet explorer 7. If its activated the visual editor does not load. After deactivating custom smilies se again the editor (tinymce) works fine. There´s something going wrong with it...

In Firefox it works fine. But i can´t prompt my users to use a specific browser for posting on my site.

@ [plugin: Custom Smilies SE]

This plugin custom smilies se, is good. I appreciate the updates that have happened with this. I like the clickable smileys in the Write Comment area, and the More dropdown to expand and show more emoticons. Thanks!

One question now, (or more than one). Does it work with IntenseDebate comment system?
