Yes, I had to also remove it due to the enormous server load it created. My blog has around 3,000 posts and my server usage trebled with the use of this plug-in. Shame, as I really like it!

I have an issue with the collapsing archives plugin when using "images" as expand and collapse characters in combination with the ~-sign in URLs. When the archive tree first loads the images appear correctly. However, when the javascript kicks in (both by clicking on the sign, but also with auto-expanding), the images disappear and are replaced by the words "expand" and "collapse". If I look at the image URLs I see that part of the path that contains the ~sign got removed.

So when the tree loads the collapse/expand image urls are correct, e.g.:

http://example.com/~wordpress/wp-content/plugins/collapsing-archives/img/collapse.gif

But after expanding (and collapsing), the image urls suddenly are replaced by

http://example.com/wp-content/plugins/collapsing-archives/img/expand.gif

So without the ~wordpress part and thus incorect URLs. I found this behaviour in both Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 8, so I suspect it is a bug in your script.

Users should be warned that if you have a substantial archive base as I do that this plugin will become a major bandwidth drain. When spiders hit the site, they will pick a megafile with links to every item in your Wordpress file. Do not install this if you have a big archive unless you like paying for lots of bandwidth.

Sorry for the bad review, but this problem needs to be noted.

Hi,

When I upgraded to version 1.1 of Collapsing Archive my archive widget now produces a list with repeating months for each of the posts within that month. (http://www.librarywebchic.net/wordpress/) Also if I go to Settings > Collapsing Archives make changes and click update I end up with a blank screen (where the options should be) If I roll back to the previous version the problem disappears. Any ideas what is going on?

Archived post titles in the archive drop down are being repeated, although they link to the correct post. I think it might be related to the scheduled post functionality in WP - it may be causing the collapsing archives to use the scheduled post title as the link text to other posts.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior, or know of a fix? You can see an example of the problem in the right column here: http://www.blackkettles.com

When you exclude the category but a month of posts ONLY contains that category, is it supposed to display that month in links or should it not be listed at all?

For instance: excluding category 2, but all posts in June 2006 were from category 2. Should "June 2006" show in the list?

If yes, is there a way to make it not show up if no valid posts are in that month?

Yep...I agree. Perfect. I just need to work out the .css options a bit.

Thanks

Rob,

Thank you for your response. This wasn't an issue with your plugin at all, rather my custom theme was missing the <?php wp_head(); ?> in its header.php file.

It works fine after that!

Thanks for this great plugin.
