Thanks PMichaud. We appreciate the request, though right we do not have any plans to add a mid-article position as a feature. The reason we have the options to put the Chitika | Premium ads only above or below the content is because that's where the ads typically perform best.

I know this isn't possible with the current version of the plugin, but I'd like to place my ads in the middle of my articles, not at the bottom or top. When is that functionality coming?

No, the ads only show to search visitors so it will not default to automobile or any other keyword. Only contextual ads would try an figure out keywords based on the page's content and Chitika | Premium ads are not contextual.

Please do contact out support department https://chitika.com/support/ if you are having a problem or have further questions.

I see now, I missed the #chitikatest=keyword part. I still have a question though: it's clear that if visitors come to the page via a search engine query, the ad unit will display ads based on the query. What happens when someone visits directly, or from a link? Does it try to figure out the keywords from the page, or will it load ads for "automobile"?

The problem I was having was that I was loading my test page directly, and seeing automobile as a regular user, which obviously won't work for me.

PMichaud

That field merely show as sample keyword for you to demo Chitika Premium with.

To demo to see what the ads look like use:
url.com/page/#chitikatest=keyword though that will only demo the ad code for your viewing, NOT set the keyword for that page, the keyword is determined by your visitors previous search query.

Details:

If you have a site related to gardening and I search for 'Mini Cactus Tips' then arrive at your site's content, the ads will target to my search keywords of 'mini cactus tip's no matter what the sample/demo form in the WordPress interface displays.

I hope this makes more sense, please contact our support department https://chitika.com/support/ if you have any other questions or suggestions about how we could more clearly convey this through the interface.

I've just started using Chitika Premium plugin on one of my sites, and it's picking the keyword "automobiles" for the display, which is totally wrong.

I tried http://www.url.com/page/#keyword -- but it still uses "automobile." How do I change this?

I am having the same problem as 3nikki. When I try to enter account user name and all the settings for the plugin, then click on "save changes", it throws me back into the "general settings" menu and my changes aren't saved. As a result I've had the notice to enter my user name at the top of my admin page and can't get rid of it unless I deactivate plugin.

I've submitted a ticket to chitika for this, and the reply said that the plugin had been fixed and to download again. This did NOT work. I resubmitted ticket and that was over a week ago - haven't heard anything at all. Can someone please address this?

Hello

I successfully installed and activated the plugin.

However no matter what I do , the settings for the plugin does not capture my Chitika account user name.

It keeps reverting to the default value of 'admin'.

Needless to say I am applying the changes.

I have the placement for ads for top of posts, but ads are showing at bottom of posts in the Chitika tests. I really would like the content ads, but nothing changes. I've tried different sizes- banner, content and rectangular settings. Sizes change, but placement remains at the bottom of my posts.

Daring - how did you fix the problem, was it a bug?

--------

When you append
#chitikatest
to the end of the URL you should see Chitika | Premium ads show up just the way your search traffic sees.

If you have checked the 'Only display ads on permalink pages' checkbox you'll have to use the
#chitikatest
on one of your permalink pages.

For example: http://example.com/2009/02/04/hello-world/#chitikatest

If you want to see similar ads that would be targeted to a specific search terms, paintbrush for instance, you would use: http://example.com/2009/02/04/hello-world/#chitikatest=paintbrush

That is an example of what someone searching a major search engine for paintbrush who chooses your page from the results might see!

Anyone else having trouble with chitika/premium? I have tried everything I know to try and the ads are still not working. I keep trying the "test" url and nothing shows up. Also I still have a message at the top of my admin page saying that I need to upgrade my chitika user name. I have filled out all the info on the c/p options page. Still nothing. Any suggestions?
