Looking for an events calendar that let's each of my users set up events and then lists them in the widget, or div block, as who will be at each one. I want to let my readers know which person (or team) will be attending each upcoming event. I have found lots of calendars that show upcoming events, none which say things like team 1 will be at such-n-such event on this day.

Maybe another way to look at this is like a ball team. A good events calendar would show home versus away games. I want to break this into four categories instead of two.

Anyone seen anything like this?

Hi,
The calendar archive widget doesn't display the correct start date for the week when viewing individual posts. It is correct on the main/home page. I have tried multiple themes and even the default theme.

Looks fine: http://blog.jolexa.net

Hi everyone,

I am using the plugin xLanguage to use English and Spanish in a blog. It is a really complete plugin, but I have a problem when I use an own widget based on the calendar widget. This widget has some literals like the name of the current month, the days of the week, and the previous and next months. I've been able to show them applying a filter, like for example:

$monthTitle = apply_filters('localization','December|Diciembre').'&nbsp;'.$year;

This code generates "December 2009" or "Diciembre 2009" depending on the language chosen, and it does correctly.

The problem comes when I click on "next month" or "previous month". I guess it has something to do with the ajax process, because on that point I use jquery to change only the calendar and not all the page.

When the calendar is loaded by those clicks, the literals are not interpretated. It is shown "December|Diciembre 2009" in both languages.

I have tried using
<span lang='es'>
instead of the pipe (|) and it's still the same. I've also tried not using the filter, and taking the literal from the .po archive and then use the function _e('December'), but it does the same. It's correct the first time the page is loaded, but when it loads only the calendar it fails.

If somebody has faced this problem or knows something that brings me any idea, I'll appreciate it.

Thanks!

I had a similar problem with Event Calendar when we moved up to PHP5.3 although I didn't see the timezone errors.

Oddly, another site where WP and EC were freshly installed on 5.3 worked without complaint.

Anyway, I found this, applied the hack to eventcalendar3.php and it seems to be working fine.

Yes, i agree, i am a visual person, so i like the whole month calender in the browsers, then when a person hovers his mouse, the "date" box will be highlighted in a different colour then the events will be seen for that day in my calender, additionally, there will be a link which says "book day" or "add event" or whatever, and anyone can edit it not openly but after my approval.

actually i have not search for the plugin but i hope it is available

I have spent a heap of time looking myself.

The best thing I have found so far is a PHP calendar from Comdev.com

It has a full demo and admin console which will refresh each hour and that allows you to play with the on line demo. I have extensively tested it and it is easy to use and has pretty much all you need for a calendar. We will use it for a sailing club to show racing and Hall hires.

It is a stand alone PHP package but does need Zend and IonCube plug ins loaded on yr ISP server side. GoDaddy does allow both. It is not available in WordPress but I can't see what you couldn't plug it in on a page.

I published a post for October 31st and then one for November 1st and noticed that my calendar is screwey.

Another idea that occurred to me is that a WP Calendar of posts for the sidebar (and full page version if available) with the ability to limit display to a specific category such as Events might work.

It would be too simple but might be a good stopgap measure until something better comes along. Of course, it still has to support showing in the calendar on the date of the event and NOT the date of Post publication.

I don't see any post calendar modification that do this in the WordPress plugin archive though...

The easiest way is to set up a google account and create a calendar for use with this app. In Google admin area, select your calendar and go to settings. Under the Calendar details tab, you'll see an area called Calendar Address. Click on the iCal button. It will bring up a popup that will give the address of your calendar.

Go back to your ICS Calendar admin area and paste that address into the area "URL to ICS File(s)". It's near the top. Scroll down a few lines and select "Save changes." At that point, it will import your calendar.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of or uses a Calendar plugin that doesn't have a separate input mechanism besides the Post section.

I know at least one popular Cal plugin allows a Post to be created from an event entry, but it's still separate and very limited, requiring the user to first create an event and then go to the post and edit it to add styled content and images, etc.

What I'm looking for is a plugin that maybe adds a field in the Post section for the day of the event and then creates a calendar from posts that utilize this field. This way I can do other useful things like add images to the event posting and set a category for flexibility in display and organization.

Ideally, the plugin would have a Gregorian calendar page output (maybe a widget calendar too) and a simple sidebar dated list widget. This way links in the calendar or list go to a fully styled post display with images and more (instead of just a tiny pop up of only title and 100 character description sans images).

Any ideas about such a setup...? Thanks for any help!

if you check the site, it shows that the calendar is not centered or spread out. Can somebody help? Don't know which code to play around with exactly and don't want to be touching something that may screw it up. I changed the template today so i'm sure that's what caused it.

Thanks to anyone who replies.
jwvelez on "How to make RSS feed ONLY show today's and future posts?"

I run an Events calendar, based on the WP-Calendar (by bustatheme.com), and I want to cross-link with a couple of sites. My idea is to give them an RSS feed for each category (concerts, sports, etc), and have them add them to their sites and display them using an RSS widget.

I use a couple of plugins that allow me to post to future dates (since it's an event calendar). I also tweaked the feed-rss2.php file to reverse the chronological listing of events and NOT have the "newest" post show first, because it ended up showing an event that is a couple of months away from today.

However, what it does now is that it displays the OLDEST post on the site, which was posted several weeks ago.

Question is... is there any way I could restrict the feed to ONLY show events posted TODAY or in the future? and therefore ignore anything posted before "TODAY"?

Thanks so much.
