When I import Typepad posts for example, the images have a larger hyperlinked image wrapped around a smaller image (i.e. &lt; a href="(larger image)"&gt;&lt; img src="(smaller image)" &gt;&lt; /a &gt;), which is what the cache-images and hot-linked-image-cacher plugins are able to cache successfully. Since you want to show the content of the cache folder to the world anyway. There is no security risk associated with it. No one will be able to write to that folder regardless of the folder setting, the only exception are those people who share the same server with you. For example I use dreamhost for hosting and the plugin does not need the folder to be 777, it works at the default setting (644). For now, I've manually coded the folder paths and have gotten it to work with WP 2.0. WP 2.0 doesn't have an upload folder set in the admin (I don't think!) so I'm manually coding these variables for now. </p> <p>Everything works OK EXCEPT when I do this: if I write a blog post and link to an image at <a href="http://www.somesite.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.somesite.com</a>, and then cache it in the admin, that works perfectly. If I do a second post, and link to another (different) image, and then cache that at a later time, the first image that was in my cache folder gets 'overwritten' and is 0 bytes. So any subsequent cachings seem to render the previous ones dead by overwriting them somehow. </p> <p>Is there some sort of file locking I'm missing? Honestly, I was tweaking the "1.0alpha" version of this plugin. I just came across the 1.2 version here. Maybe Matt has fixed this? Or could be I have something set incorrectly.
